In the Blackbird, Quicksilver reacts with rage when he sees the broadcast of Fabian Cortez holding his daughter hostage. Cortez urges the mutates to lash out at their human oppressors. The X-Men figure Cortez is using Luna as a shield from Magneto. Gambit tells Quicksilver that they can use that to their advantage, as Cortez does not know Magneto is in a vegetative state on Avalon.

Meanwhile, on the asteroid, Colossus watches Fabian's broadcast, debating whether to let the world know that Magneto is in a coma. Exodus enters and tells Piotr he thinks Magneto would've wanted Genosha this way and wonders why Piotr joined the Acolytes. Colossus, himself, is unsure of what he got himself into.

At the Avengers Mansion, the team is fighting with SHIELD troops, who want to keep them out of Genosha. Dane manages to take out Fury with his neuroblade and he, Captain America, Crystal, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, and Sersi manage to escape on one of their jets. Left behind are Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hercules, and Vision to deal with the UN.

Meanwhile, Xavier's group is traveling towards Hammer Bay when their convoy is ambushed. Xavier telepathically tells Beast to put on a gas mask and together they make their way to a rebel camp. They meet Renee Majcomb, leader of the Bipartisan Rebel Battalion, a group that wants to stop the civil war. The group boards a truck, but USAgent, who has recovered from the ambush already, sneaks aboard.

An hour later, Cyclops, Phoenix, Storm, Bishop, Gambit, Rogue, Iceman, Archangel, Revanche, and Quicksilver land on Genosha. They are immediately attacked by the Unforgiven, mutates led by Cortez. Quicksilver lets it slip that Magneto is a coma and Cortez is delighted.

Meanwhile, the Avenger team has also landed on Genosha and is trying to stop a battle between humans and mutates. Suddenly all of the humans are incinerated in a blinding flash of light. Exodus has arrived.
