X-Man #4
Synopsis by Jeff Harris:In New York, Shadow King informs Apocalypse of Domino's failure and the telepath's continued existence. Obviously Apocalypse isn't pleased, and says as much. He promises to deal with the problem himself, and then returns his attention to his bloodied hostage, Magneto. Back in the Midwest, Nate unleashes his powers on Sinister, but stops when he claims that he can tell him of his past and origin. He says that Nate was really a genetic combination of the DNA of Prelate Cyclops and a wondrous telepath named Jean Grey, who he engineered himself. Sinister then claims that he was there when Nate and Cyclops met in the pits and he thought he'd lost Nate for good. Then he charges the youth with the destiny he'd planned for him all along: to kill Apocalypse. Just then, Soaron and Sonique (Theresa's new nom de guerre) show up, but Nate thinks they're only complicating things, and sends them away. Despite all of Sinister's revelations about himself, Nate channels all of his telepathic energy to his fists and beats Sinster to a pulp when he says that all Nate really was made to be was a weapon for him to point at Apocalypse. After the insuing battle, Sinster bleeds to death alone in the woods "leaving no one left to mourn him" and Nate says his goodbyes (including a long kiss with Theresa) to his surviving friends and strikes out on his own. He tries to psi-link with Magneto again and sees Apocalypse wiping the floor with him, and then discovers their location and races after them. When he arrives at Apocalypse's citadel, the pens are in an uproar as En Sabah Nur has given the order for his soldiers to exterminate all the humans he's holding captive. Nate rescues a bunch of them, and runs into Cyclops and Jean Grey. He has an immediate and painful backlash when Jean's and his minds connect, and Cyclops blasts him out of the way, but Jean protects him and asks if he'd like to join them. Nate doesn't take them up on their offer but says he'll find them after the war is over. He then proceeds to climb Apocalypse citadel in an effort to get to Magneto and kill the dark lord himself.
