Part 2 of "Fatal Attractions"
At Camp Verde, a mysterious gunman is disabling the X-Force team two at a time. Cannonball attacks the gunman only to find that it is his old leader, Cable. After reuniting with the team, and reconciling with Cannonball, Cable takes half the team inside the medical bunker for a meeting, while the rest remain outside. Inside, Cable divulges his past to the team, in order to gain back some trust he has lost. The team members outside are met by a mysterious man who calls himself Exodus. Exodus has come only for Cannonball and Sunspot, whom he wants to join him. But after telepathically discerning X-Force’s thoughts of attack, Exodus strikes at the team, and only Warpath is left standing. Exodus is then counterattacked by the rest of the team, which was notified of the perimeter breach. They battle to a standstill, and Exodus’ offer is heard out. He wants to bring Cannonball and Sunspot to an orbital asylum from earth for mutants. Sam and Roberto agree to go with Exodus, but Sam demands that Boomer and Rictor tag along, as well as Rusty and Skids, both injured. Exodus agrees, and before Sam leaves he secretly slaps a comm-link tracer on Cable’s shoulder. Cannonball is told by Exodus that his new home, now called Avalon, was once Graymalkin, the home of Cable. After this startling discovery, they are met by none other than Magneto himself, who cures the brain defects in Rusty and Skids. Cable and the rest of the team (Shatterstar, Warpath, Siryn, Feral) arrive at Avalon with the objective of saving Sam’s team and then destroying the space station. They are met by Exodus, and a battle ensues in which Exodus is put down. Cable overrides computer controls and teleports his team to meet with Cannonball’s. He then bodyslides X-Force, excluding himself, to the IPAC transport. Cable, by himself, heads toward the Graymalkin central core, in order to save the sentient programming of the Professor (Now called Prosh). Cable retrieves the programming, but encounters Magneto, whom he attacks. Magneto uses his power to tear apart the half of Cable’s body that is ravaged by the techno-virus, ending the battle quickly. Cable manages to bodyslide to the IPAC, and X-Force retreats back to camp.
