Hodge (decapitated by Warren in issue #34) is still alive, courtesy of the demon N'astirh, and has a spider-like, cybernetic body. He plots with the Genoshan president and Genegineer to execute their captives mutants, make Genosha a world power, and destroy all mutants, especially Warren. Cooper summons X-Factor to Washington to let them know the U.S. government will not oppose their rescuing the New Mutants. They land on the coast of Genosha and are promptly attacked. The amnesiac Havok is now a Genoshan magistrate and fights Scott. The Genoshans retreat. Boom-Boom, Rictor, and Storm escape and try to make their way to the U.S. embassy.
