Synopsis & Review by Cihndar: Thanks!
Synopsis: Due to the actions of the New Mutants, the demons begin to fade, but the X-Factor still face the possessed city. Demons bear Nathan to N'astirh and he flies over the X-Factor carrying the child. The heroes chase after him but are attacked by a few of the inanimate objects gone demon. Cyclops blasts through the demons only to see his supposedly deceased wife holding their child. She tell them they can call her "your Goblin Majesty." Cyclops doesn't want to hurt her because he knows that the demons did this to her. He tries to talk sense to her, but she accuses him of abandoning them and says he wanted her dead. Madelyne accuses Scott of making her what she is. She says that he never really loved her.

Jean can't read Madelyne for some reason, but she can tell that Nathan is frightened. Madelyne is upset that Jean would try to reach her child. The Goblin Queen tried to blast the X-Factor, but N'astirh stops the blast and turns a building into demons. The Goblin Queen threatens N'astirh. He pretends to be her servant, but feels he has set it all in motion.

Jean telekinetically narrows the passage of the demons. Beast rips his uniform off and the group have at the creatures.

The Goblin Queen claims she is not N'astirh's puppet anymore and blast him. He fades, thinking of what is set in motion. The Empire State Building is a veritable Tower of Babel and with the sacrifice of Nathan, Limbo will flood the Earth.

Goblin Queen tosses Nathan to her servants, but the child falls. Jean tries to catch him, but the Goblin Queen scoops him up telekinetically. As the Goblin Queen's demons attack Jean, the telepath can sense that they are her parents. As the X-Factor finishes off the demons, Dr. and Mrs. Grey throw Jean to the ground. Cyclops catches her and the Goblin Queen blasts them. The others tell Cyclops they have to fight back. Cyclops says to save Nathan and spare Madelyne if possible. As they fly up to Madelyne, she blames it all on Cyclops' rejoining the X-Men and throws them to the ground.

From above, the Goblin Queen says she will shatter the "mutant family" and then sacrifice their son. As the X-Factor stand they see Madelyne; not as the Goblin Queen, but as a scared mother begging to keep her child. Before the X-Factor have a chance to react, Wolverine's hand grabs Jean's shoulder. He says he needs to make sure she's real.

Review: I'm indifferent towards this issue. It's mainly just filler that sets up Uncanny 242. The art's not that good, no real pot developments occur, and its mainly just the Goblin Queen blasting the X-Factor.

We see the demons passing Nathan off to N'astirh which happened in New Mutants 72. Only now N'astirh is infected with the transmode. We see him give the baby to Madelyne which happened in Uncanny 241 at Sinister's base. So there's no consistency. And why did N'astirh keep the Goblin Queen from blasting the X-Factor that one time? What was the point? Did he think that it would drive her deeper into insanity? I think she's already there.

I guess one good thing I can say is that we start to see Cyclops' struggle. This is not a glorious story for him. He made mistakes and this is the end result. Also, N'astirh states that Nathan Christopher was named for his two grandfathers. I don't know if Madelyne's pseudo-father was named Nathan, but that is Dr. Essex's name. I wonder if N'astirh knew Sinister's real name. Also, Madelyne mentions that there was a bully at the orphanage named Nathan. I'd have to reread the rest of Inferno (and it may not even be in there) but that might be Sinister as well. Anyway, I don't have much else to say so I'll leave it at that.
