Xavin

Powers & History: As a Super Skrull in-training, Xavin possesses the same cosmic powers used by the Fantastic Four; elasticity, invisibility and force fields, super strength and resistance, and pyrokinesis, as well as the natural ability to shape shift. Before Xavin was even born, a deal was struck between his parents and the Deans, who would later arrive on earth and become members of the Pride, that both families’ first born children would be betrothed to be married. However, a war later broke out between the two races, and Xavin’s parents were killed. Hoping to end the conflict, Xavin traveled to earth to claim what was promised to him; Karolina’s hand in marriage.

When he arrived, however, his natural Skrull arrogance showed through and the Runaways thought that he was there to kidnap Karolina. They fought and ran from him, but his ship was able to catch up to the Leapfrog easily and he threatened to blow Karolina’s friends out of the sky unless she agreed to talk to him. She relented and they touched down to hear his story. Xavin relayed the details of how Karolina was promised to marry him by her parents, but also told of the devastation happening because of the fighting between their two races, which included the death of his parents. He softened up more and said that he would not force her to marry him, but offered to take her along to see her homeworld and could make up her mind later. This moved Karolina to want to accept his proposition, but revealed that she liked girls, not guys, but he said that was an easy fix, and used his shape shifting abilities to transform into a beautiful girl, a form that he alternates with his Skrull and human male form, and Karolina agreed to leave earth with him.

Eventually, Karolina was won over by Xavin and the trip home, and agreed to marry him. He even arranged for the Skrull band to play a version of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” for the walk down the aisle, but a fight broke out between their two races, which escalated into a full on battle that resulted in the destruction of a whole planet. Xavin and Karolina managed to escape just in time and decided to return to earth due as everything they worked for was destroyed.

But when they returned, they found their friends at each other’s throats, the victims of the manipulations of a newly formed Pride, led by a younger version of the old Pride leader, Geoffrey Wilder. Karolina managed to calm the others down and they set out to confront their new enemies who had kidnapped Molly. Xavin offered to come along, but Nico told him to stay behind should it be a trap to attack their home, but secretly she made a plan with him to take her place while she freed Molly. This turned out to be smart, as when Xavin-as-Nico confronted Geoffrey, he shot her. But thanks to Xavin’s powers, he was unharmed and provided enough of a distraction for Nico to save Molly, although he was taken out by Geoff soon after. Molly carried him out of the building which caught fire when his powers went out of control, and after the battle, he informed Karolina, who had also been knocked out, that her friend Gert lost her life in the fight.
