Wolfsbane

Real Name: Rahne Sinclair
Affiliation: Xavier Institute (Faculty)
Previous Affiliations: Excalibur, X-Factor, New Mutants
Aliases: Mutate #490
Relatives: Reverend Craig (father), Moira MacTaggert (foster-mother)
Powers: Rahne is a lycanthrope, possessing the ability to transform into a wolf. She also has a "transitional form" that allows her to combine the agility and grasping hands of a human being with the strength, speed and senses of a wolf. She can refine this form so that she appears human, but retains the long hair and enhanced senses of her wolfen form. During the "X-Tinction Agenda," Rahne was transformed into a Genoshan mutate, and was bonded to work with and protect Havok. When Havok agreed to lead the government's X-Factor, Rahne went with him. Although her brainwashing was reversed when the X-Men defeated Hodge, some aspects of the process, including her "love" for Alex, remained in place, causing some nasty love triangle issues until Rahne was cured somehow by Haven. Rahne moved to Excalibur soon after, to be closer to her foster-mother Moira, who had recently contracted the Legacy Virus. She remains on Muir Island, even after the team's dissolution, and was starting a romance with Douglock. She has also loosened up a lot, and is no longer the scared little religious girl she used to be. Recently she teamed up with Douglock (now Warlock II) to defeat Mainspring and the Magus. Shortly thereafter, though, Muir Island was attacked by Mystique's new Brotherhood. Rahne fought bravely, but was shot by Mystique with a version of Forge's Neutralizer, which eliminated her powers, or more likely, her mental access to them. Rahne returned to the States with the X-Men who came to fend off the Brotherhood.

Some time later, she was attacked by muggers while at a museum, and was saved by her former New Mutants teammates. Though still powerless in terms of full lycanthropy, she appeared to still possess some heightened senses. A few months after that, Rahne reappeared when she took down Avalanche with fancy motorcycle riding and martial arts. She was done by the time the X-Men arrived, and returned to the school with them. Sporting a biker-girl look, longer hair and with no accent, Rahne reunited with Dani and Karma, and revealed that she had completely lost her powers. Rahne opted to stay at the school, but the same night she took Dani's advisees out for an unauthorized rescue mission.

After being reprimanded by Dani and Cyclops, Rahne left in a huff, but was followed by a student, Josh Foley. Josh, a healer, saw that Rahne was in conflict over her emotions and powers and offered to restore her abilities. Rahne finally agreed, and Josh healed her genetic makeup to its original state. Unfortunately, the feral explosion caused Rahne to slash at Josh, and she nearly killed him. Josh survived, and with the help of Dani Moonstar and the restored telepathic link, Rahne was located and she agreed to return to the Institute.

Rahne joined the faculty, but she and Josh secretly continued their relationship, until Rahne realized that Laurie Collins also like Josh, so she broke it off. On one of her off days, she also assisted Jamie Madrox in his private investigation agency, trailing the astral form of a married man to find him engaged in a telepathic affair with another guy. She doesn't like to talk about that. Unfortunately, another student at the Institute found out about Rahne and Josh's tryst, and exposed them to the faculty. Rahne was incredibly embarrassed and left the school to return to Jamie's firm even before the headmasters' decision about her teaching status was even finalized.

Following M-Day, Wolfsbane remained with Madrox's X-Factor Investigations, and helped Strong Guy to physically quell an anti-mutant riot in the former Mutant Town. The two basically threatened the lives of any humans who tried to attack mutants.
