Powers & History: Wolf Cub has a permanent half-wolf form with razor-sharp claws, enhanced speed, agility and senses. His fur is brown, and his eyes vary from black and red to black and yellow. He has fangs and pointed ears as well.

Nicholas Gleason was rescued from mutant haters by X-Men Chamber and Cyclops and brought back to the mansion. While at the institute Nicholas began to have trouble coping with his feral nature. However, he managed to make friends with Carter Ghazakhanian. His internal struggles came to a breaking point when an enraged Nicholas lashed out at Havok, severely wounding him. Havok’s wounding resulted in the Exiles' interference to protect Wolf Cub and Carter from an evil alternate-reality persona of Havok (from Mutant X/Earth 1298) that was possessing him. At the same time the Dominant Species, a pack of mutant werewolves, attacked the mansion. Nicholas was forced to choose between embracing his feral nature and joining the Dominant Species or fight alongside the X-Men. Wolf Cub eventually chose to side with the X-Men and helped defeat their attackers.

Gleason later joined the Paragons Squad and his transitional wolf form became much more humanlike. After M-Day, Wolf Cub retained his powers and remained at the Institute. He was unable to make the New X-Men team though as he was quickly defeated by Rockslide.
