Powers: Uncertain. Ness is an exiled member of the Hellbent, a mysterious group that is not entirely human, and has many avian or demonic characteristics. He is called the Witness because of a dream he had of Nate Grey destroying half of the world in a psionic battle. Ness took it upon himself to prevent that future from happening. To that end, he sought out Nate, and tried to help him control himself. Ness fought with Nate against the Psi-Ops Gauntlet, and has become something of a mentor and guardian to the boy. In the fight against Stryfe during which Nate destroyed the world in the dream, Ness helped Nate find another way to defeat his enemy, one that was less disastrous. He has great skill in the fighting arts, and appears to be very strong, but little else is known. In a battle with the Psi-Ops, Ness was guarding the fallen Madelyne Pryor when he was captured by the operative Vise. Vise set off a bomb, which destroyed all the buildings in the immediate area, and Ness is presumed dead.
