Real Name: "Dee" Milo (full name unknown)When Professor X heard of Venus's mutation, he contacted her and designed a special containment suit that mimics a woman's body for her. Though Venus is black, her bodysuit is red with straight black hair. The suit has no arms, though Venus is able to confine her energy to arm shapes and hold three-quarter length gloves in place. The suit functions like skin would, even allowing Venus a sense of touch. Every few days though (or when her energy is contaminated by chemicals, radiation or germs) Venus leaves the suit in favor of a Xavier-designed cleansing chamber that decontaminates her sentient energy.
Venus's initial mutation was a tragic one. Upset at her parents as a teen, she literally exploded into her current energy self. Unfortunately, the energy she released apparently disintegrated her family and destroyed their house. She became manic depressive and suicidal and was institutionalized for a time. When she got out, she was picked up by Solomon O'Sullivan, and agent for would-be superheroes. O'Sullivan got her into the X-Statix trials, but at first the Orphan wanted nothing to do with her. It seems she reminded him too much of his recently-deceased lover U-Go Girl. He also thought (for some reason) she was "too pure" to get involved with them, until Venus took him to the site of her family's death and explained her past to him.
Venus joined X-Statix and went on one mission with them, on which she picked up a healthy dose of radiation when dropping off a nuclear bomb in an unpopulated area. She then took Guy out to dinner, where she was accosted by "Friends of Edie" (FOE). Upset that Guy asked her out just to show her why she shouldn't be involved with him, she stormed off. Then her status on the team was further jeopardized by O'Sullivan's office, who claimed that she was still their client and forbid her to operate with X-Statix. Venus refused, and later, when Orphan went after Arnie Lunt alone, she got O'Sullivan to release her from her contract, so she could collect the other members of X-Statix and go to his aid.
Venus and Orphan began a sort of relationship, but it was always colored by Orphan's mourning for Edie and never progressed anywhere. In the meantime, Venus continued to search through various dimensions for her family, whom she theorized were displaced, not disintegrated, all those years ago. Using a machine invented by Professor X, Venus scanned up and down the universes, until on one jaunt a cocoon-like entity returned with her. Though Professor X shot it, the entity survived and became "Bad Guy," whom many people thought was Guy Smith (Orphan) gone bad. Venus eventually confronted Bad Guy and removed his mask, finding her dead cousin Jamal underneath. The entity had locked on to Venus's subconscious to create an image to antagonize her. She realized that the entity was feeding off her repressed emotions and eventually Venus ported them to a desert dimension, with Dead Girl hitched along for the ride. Dead Girl destroyed the entity, and after some soul-searching Venus remembered that Jamal used to put bugs on her at night when she was little. Finally free of this repressed memory, Venus accepted a special suit from Xavier that would allow her to be intimate with Orphan, but before they can take action, she spontaneously teleported to a new dimension, and found her parents, alive and well. Venus was thrilled and returned her family to Earth.
After consummating her relationship with Orphan, Venus agreed to help him go through and pack up U-Go Girl's belongings. In the process, she read some of Edie's diaries and came to understand her some more, but tension still remains between Venus and Guy whenever Edie's name or memory comes up.
