Powers: Control of all matter on his island. Years after facing the original Krakoa, Nightcrawler crash-landed his airplane on a remote island with Easter Island-like statues of the X-Men. He was captured by the locals and dumped into a crater along with a virgin sacrifice. Suddenly, a rock platform scooped them up and flew them to a cavern. There appeared Vega-Superior, a living island who attacked Nightcrawler, seeking revenge for its sire's death. The island called itself Vega-Superior, the "Son of Krakoa," having grown from a spore from the original Krakoa that was left on Earth. He planned to take over the Earth and replace humans with a new breed of beings he called the Vega-Men, which were constructs based on the X-Men's genetic templates. Nightcrawler eventually defeated the fake X-Men and realized that Vega-Superior's hold on the island was tenuous and his powers failed when his constructs lost contact with the Earth. Nightcrawler then tricked Vega-Superior into following him into the ocean, where the island monster lost cohesion and dissipated into nothingness.
