Unus

Real Name: Angelo Unuscione
Affiliation: None
Previous Affiliations: Factor Three, Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (I)
Aliases: Gunther Bain
Status: Deceased
Relatives: Carmella (Unuscione, daughter), Adrian Corbo (Radius, son)
Powers: Once a pro wrestler, Unus was one of the first villains to face the X-Men. He projected a force field that repelled any attack directed at him. The X-Men defeated im by creating a device that increased Unus's power to the point where he repelled everything away from him, even things he wanted to hold. In return for his promise not to commit more crimes, the X-Men returned him to normal. However, he later teamed up with the Blob to rob banks while wearing X-Men costumes, hoping to smear the heroes' good names. Actually, they were both being subliminally influenced by Professor X's old enemy Lucifer, who had also removed Unus's vulnerability to the X-Men's power enhancer. When they used it on him, Unus really became stronger. Unus also showed up as a member of Factor Three, but joined forced with the X-Men against the group's leader, the Mutant Master, when the latter was revealed to be an alien bent on the subjugation of the entire planet. Later, he was captured by Larry Trask's Sentinels and put in a containment unit.

Following the X-Men's defeat of the Sentinels, he teamed up with Blob and Mastermind in running a fake carnival and other assorted schemes. When the mutant leader Krueger found Avia, Angel III and later Cyclops, Marvel Girl and Candy Southern, Blob had Mastermind use his powers to fake up the cash with which the villains bought the captured heroes. The entire plan failed once the X-Men figured out that Mastermind was involved. Then Krueger showed up for revenge and his energy-draining powers left Unus helpless and they were all arrested thanks to the X-Men.

Shortly thereafter, Unus joined Magneto's Brotherhood, but after being reduced to infancy by Mutant Alpha, he quit. Somehow Unus regained adulthood. Sometime just before the Secret Wars, he and the Blob fought Spider-Man. In that battle, Unus's powers went haywire and he ended up floating in mid-air, repelled by his forcefield from everything, even the ground. Though he was presumed dead for a long time, Unus recently reappeared in Genosha following its destruction by the Wild Sentinels. He was found curled up in fetal position, claiming to have seen ghosts. These ghosts were in reality the electomagnetic spirits of the massacred mutants, who were being preserved by Polaris. Unus had apparently come to Genosha to honor the dead and Magneto, and remained their with the others who were constructing a monument to their memory.

Following M-Day, Unus lost his powers and was stuck on Genosha. Shortly afterwards, Quicksilver arrived on the island and offered the ex-mutants there a chance to re-mutate themselves using the Terrigen Mists. Unus accepted and regained his forcefield. Unfortunately, the Mists' effects were unstable, and when the Inhumans arrived to reclaim their property, Unus's forcefield protected him from Karnak, but then hardened into an opaque shell, suffocating him to death.
