"Messiah Complex, Part 10"
by Ed Brubaker and Billy Tan

Part of the Messiah CompleX X-Over

Synopsis and Review by Silvermoth: Thanks!
Synopsis: At Eagle Plaza, Dallas Texas, Cable lies dying next to the body of Forge. Bishop has his gun pointing at the baby when suddenly he is interrupted by Vertigo, Gambit, Sunfire and the Omega Sentinel. They beat Bishop down, even though he keeps saying “The baby must die.” Omega Sentinel is still linked to the X-jet and says the X-Men are coming soon. Gambit wonders what would make Bishop betray the X-Men.

Meanwhile in the future, Jamie Madrox is being beaten up by a guard inside a mutant concentration camp. He meets up with Layla who takes him to see Lucas Bishop, age 8!

Back in the present day, Bishop takes an X-jet out for a spin. He tells Cyclops his story, leaving out the bit with him betraying the X-Men. Cyclops mobilizes every single one of the X-Men left standing. Bishop is told about the death of Caliban. Warpath wants Hepzibah to stay behind but she refuses.

Back at the Institute, the Stepford Cuckoos find Cable via Cerebra. Cyclops says they must shut him down for good!

Elsewhere, Cable laments the loss of the child as he finds a new X-jet to pilot.

Review: Another worthy addition to the Messiah Complex crossover. What I love the most is the way the members of the X-Men get along with each other, there’s a real camaraderie that’s been missing in the past few years. The concentration camp scenes are undertaken with style and respect. Tan’s art to me is very, very good but I’ve heard lots of people complaining about it. To me, he is one of the best artists around. The marauders entrance was spectacular! The only disappointing thing about this issue is the end which feels a little needless. Every issue should end with a punch and so the scene with Cable should have been a little sooner. All in all, a worthy addition to the crossover!
