ENDANGERED SPECIES CHAPTER 6
by Christos Gage & Tom Grummett

Synopsis: Bishop and Beast arrive at Mutant town, now devoid of mutants and inhabited by beggars and prostitutes. Bishop leads Beast to a drug dealer called Charlie Hustle who specializes in mutant growth hormone. Charlie gives the two a smart mouth so Bishop manhandles him until he is ready to talk. Charlie leads them to a lab filled with vials of mutant DNA. Since M-day, the entire mutant DNA has reverted to human DNA. Charlie offers Beast a job giving samples. Hank is disgusted with him and shoves him out the window. Beast contemplates throwing him outside but eventually throws him back in the building.

As Beast talks about the alternative future where Bishop is from, he suddenly realizes that he has an idea!

Review: The Endangered Species arc (needless to say) is perhaps one of the most pointless stories ever told. We follow Beast as he goes from dead end to dead end which sounds a lot more interesting than it is. This story has nothing to do with messiah complex so if you’re seeking it out for that reason don’t bother. Christos Gage is a terrific writer and the art is decent so neither should be criticised long term for this. It’s an editorial problem and reveals that the whole thing is a shameless money-grabbing exercise.
