Monaco. It's a dark and stormy night, and Col. Gayle Cord-Becker, Ret. is traveling in a limo with her charge, the young Monet St. Croix. Monet is completely unresponsive, and the Colonel makes a reference to seomthing bad that happened to her brother and "the twins" Suddenly the limo swerves out of control and crashes. A Phalanx unit stands in from of the car, and absorbs the driver. Cord-Becker pushes Monet out of the car, and tells her to run, but Monet doesn't budge. The Colonel fires three shots into the Phalanx and then screams as she is absorbed. The Phalanx then picks Monet up and teleports away with her. Mean while, in the USA, Banshee, recently returned to the X-Mansion, is checking in on Emma Frost, whose life he helped save only days before. She's in the medlab in isolation with power dampeners on, but she's raving about how the X-Men are trying to keep her from knowing the truth. Banshee does question the wisdom of having Storm and Iceman, both of whom have good reason to hate Emma, run these test, but Storm reassures him as she ushers him out. Sean tries to work off his frustration in the Danger Room but it's locked, with Jubilee running a session inside. Sean wonders at allowing the youngster in there unsupervised, but shrugs it off. Then he hears an incoming call and picks up to see Cyclops and Phoenix still on their honeymoon and looking for Professor X They say they have information on the Legacy Virus (which they got in the future - see The Adventures of Cyclops and Pheonix LS). Sean tells them that Xavier is on Muir Island and they agree to go there to meet with him. As Sean hangs up Archangel flies in and grills Sean about what he was doing, berating him for releasing classified information to "unauthorized personnel." Sean tells him to chill and Warren cools off and sets about contacting Muir. Then Sean notices Psylocke strolling out of Xavier's Ready Room, the only off-limits place in the complex. Sean steels himself and walks in to find Bishop and Gambit working on some computer equipment. He jokes with them and throws in some false information about Xavier, with which they agree, proving to Sean that these X-Men are impostors. He leaves and tries to locate Storm but the computer tells him that none of the X-Men are in the Mansion. Sean returns to the comm system to contact Muir but the equipment has been completely dissected in under half an hour Beast is responsible, and a few quick lines get Sean out of there. So he goes to get Creed, whom he knows is real, and encounters Rogue playing guard. Rogue won't let him in to see Creed, and grabs him, so Banshee opens up his vocal cords on her, exposing her as a Phalanx. Sean quickly frees Creed, forcing him to cooperate by means of a detonator linked to Creed's manacles. The Phalanx recovers, but Creed makes short work of her. While Creed goes to bust Jubes and Emma out, Sean hoofs it to Cerebro and sees that the Phalanx are after some neo-mutants, kids whom Xavier had catalogued in order to recruit them someday. The Phalanx X-Men burst in, and Banshee defends himself, but then zips down a hole in the floor as the entire room explodes, unfortunately taking many of Xavier's files with it. Creed, Emma, and Jubilee meet up with Sean, who tells them they must track down the neo-mutants before the Phalanx captures them!
