Part 12 of the "Mutant Massacre"
"Psylocke"

Synopsis by CAmerica77:
Psylocke is concentrating intensely on Cerebro. She manifests her astral butterfly form and checks on the various people at the mansion. Rogue is patrolling the school grounds, and is startled by Psylocke's butterfly. Rogue tells Psylocke that the grounds are quiet, and she'll be all right. Psylocke still feels like an outsider, an unproven outsider vying for acceptance. Her butterfly makes its way down the mansion to the infirmary, and recounts the events of the last few hours. Nightcrawler is still in a coma, and Colossus still paralyzed. Kitty still exists as a living ghost, her discorporation progressing. She moves up to the New Mutants' rooms, still vacant with their occupants missing. She stops in Cypher's room, and she thinks of how he loves her and wonders.

In the tunnels, Wolverine, Magneto, Callisto and Storm inspect the tunnels. It appears the plasma wave that passed by has scoured the tunnels clean, and it involved the entire network. Magneto says the tunnels are now as they were before the Morlocks arrived. Effectively, the Morlocks and everything they own have been wiped from the face of the world. Callisto is furious, and wonders what caused the plasma wave, and timidly, quietly, Storm replies that it was lightning. Callisto remembers the wild weather when Storm and her fought at the Mansion, and asks how it would be possible since Storm no longer possesses her powers. Storm says she is no longer certain of this and does not what caused the damage in the tunnels. Wolverine says the scent trails have gone dead, both Marauders and New Mutants, and says if they survived they would have been in contact by now. Magneto refuses to believe the worst and has hope of their survival. He tells the others of the Hellfire Clubs invitation for him to be the new White King, and wonders if he should accept to better protect the students. While Storm thinks the idea preposterous, Magneto and Callisto acknowledge that the X-Men need help, with half their numbers lost or injured.

Before the conversation escalates, Psylocke appears and offers to use Cerebro to scan for the New Mutants. Storm says absolutely not; the danger to Betsy is too great and she is needed to protect the mansion. Psylocke objects, still wanting to prove herself, and Storm says the best way for that is to follow orders. Logan thinks she could be helpful, but Storm says she is still unproven, and the cannot afford mistakes or another dead body. At the mansion, Psylocke is angry over Storm's decision, but she senses a stranger entering the school. She attempts a psi-scan, but the backlash causes her immense pain and she suddenly is thrown from Cerebro unconsious.

In Los Angeles, Alison Blaire is walking the streets alone, thinking she enjoys her anonymity. Her reflection in a store window thinks otherwise, as Malice slowly coerces her to let loose her full power, with help from the Malice brooch, of course. Alison arrives at a club as Dazzler, eager to show herself to the world!

Back at the Mansion, Rogue is on patrol when suddenly she is grabbed and smashed into the ground, thrown, and beaten by Sabretooth. Psylocke is awakened in the Cerebro Chamber and immediately starts scanning for the intruder, whom she finds is both a Marauder and in the room with her! She nimbly dodges Sabretooth's assault, and a psycho-blast pushes him away as she flees. She dares Sabretooth to catch her as she leads him upstairs.

In the infirmary, Sharon and Moira watch this happening on the mansion's security system, and realize Psylocke is leading him away from the patients. In the gym on the second floor, Psylocke desperately heaves a weight at Sabretooth, who catches it and crumbles it in his hands. Psylocke jumps out the window and crashes into the skylight of Storm's attic. Sabretooth grabs her and is about to tear her throat out when he is interrupted by Wolverine, who distracts him long enough for Storm to poke him in the eyes with her staff. Wolverine then fights him and tumble out of Storms attic into the pool below.

Meanwhile, Psylocke is checked up on by Magneto and Storm. Psylocke assures them that she is fine, and believes that Sabretooth can be mindscanned for information as long as Wolverine keeps him occupied so his psychic defenses will be lowered. Wolverine holds up his end of the bargain, and Psylocke is able to garner the information they need. The fight has progressed to the cove, where the two combatants fall into the water and Sabretooth disappears.

The next morning, the X-Men decide to transfer the injured Morlocks to Muir Isle, and commend the absent Betsy on a job well done. As if on cue, Psylocke emerges into the room where they are speaking, and is dressed in costume, a full-fledged X-Man.
