Part 8 of the "Mutant Massacre" Wolverine is alone in the Morlock tunnels beneath Manhattan. He's looking for any sign of life, Morlock or Marauder. All he sees are dead bodies. Suddenly, Betsy Braddock contacts him telepathically. She explains she is also called Psylocke, and Storm asked her to monitor his progress and give updates. Wolverine says he is still looking for a prisoner, but one is all Storm's going to get. He mentions that he ran into the Power Pack in the tunnels, but he sent them home (little does he know they stayed). Psylocke says she is worried about Storm, and Wolverine tells her to forget it; Storm can take care of herself. At the Mansion, we see Psylocke in Xavier's Study, as she was using Cerebro to contact Wolverine. In the infirmary, Magneto, Callisto, Storm, school nurse Sharon Friedlander, and Moira MacTaggert are tending the wounded, having just lost another life. Moira was teleported to the mansion by Magik during the time between last issue and this one. Callisto laments her loss, and Storm grieves for the injured Nightcrawler, who is unconscious. She goes to Colossus, who is standing in front of a chamber that holds Shadowcat. She is still stuck in permanent phase, and the chamber holds her. Peter is angry, and speaks of revenge, which causes Storm to lose control of her emotions. Peter, who swore never to kill, has killed, and her dearest friends are injured, and she blames herself. Storm runs from the infirmary in tears. Colossus says he'll follow her, but is warned to be mindful of his own injuries. Storm runs from the mansion, without thought, just a desire to escape from the madness. She leaps into the mansion's lake from a cliff, and swims away. Meanwhile, Colossus knocks on Betsy's door to see if she can help find Ororo. She senses he is in pain, and he can barely say anything before he collapses on top of her. She sends out telepathic help to Rogue, who is guarding the mansion entrance to the Morlock tunnels with Tom Corsi. She immediately rushes to Psylocke's aid. On her way, she passes the hangar, which is being used as a morgue, and is nearly full. Rogue reaches Betsy at the same time as Magneto and Moira. She picks Colossus off of Betsy, and lays him on the floor. It seems he is paralyzed, like a statue. Psylocke says she senses Storm near the lake and Rogue heads out that way after telling Magneto to do what he can for Peter. Meanwhile, Logan is in the tunnels and disturbed by the fact that he's called out for Psylocke three times and has received no response. He wonders if the Marauders have invaded the Mansion. For the second time he smells X-Factor's scents. He wonders about them, and why they hunt down mutants. Again he encounters a certain female scent which he is very disturbed by. While he is thinking about this, he is suddenly attacked and knocked out be an unseen attacker. At the lake, Storm hides from the passing Rogue, tearing off her leather clothes and running into the woods. She is overtly distraught over the horrors that have occurred and clearly blames herself, pondering why it seems everyone she loves dies. At the mansion's infirmary, Moira is wondering about Colossus' condition. No breathing, no heartbeat, all these are normal for Peter in his armored form. Psylocke says he is alive, but must be helped quickly. Magneto says he can help. First, he shows Colossus' injuries. Since Peter cannot bleed in armored form, he loses energy through 'blast points' in his body, all of which are dangerously depleted. Magneto attempts to help Peter using his powers. For a long while he is bathing Colossus in magnetic energy, and collapses after he is finished. They look to see if Magneto's attempt at doctoring has been successful, and Peter smiles at him, awake at last. But then, weakly, he asks Moira why he can't move. In the tunnels, Wolverine awakes to a voice, and chides himself for not guessing his assailant was here in the first place. After all, massacres are his stock in trade. Logan rises to see Sabretooth, holding the Morlock healer in his hand, still alive. Sabretooth obviously doesn't realize who he is, or else he would have killed him by now. Wolverine pumps him for information as long as he can. Sabretooth says Mr. Sinister sent the Marauders to the tunnels. They begin to fight. At the lake, Callisto tells Rogue to head back to the mansion, that she'll find Storm. Rogue, who is still wearing Storm's vest, gives the vest to Callisto and instructs her to give it Storm. Callisto finds Ororo by a small house, dressed in a white dress pulled off a set of drying lines. Storm begs Callisto to leave her alone, saying she is not fit for leadership. Callisto chases after her, saying she has an obligation to the X-Men and the Morlocks, and the pair fight. In the tunnels, Wolverine and Sabretooth are locked in battle, the two being equal. Suddenly Wolverine tears into a weak tunnel wall, creating a wall of debris between Sabretooth and Logan and the healer. Sabretooth says he'll be back. Wolverine picks up the Morlock healer and heads toward the Mansion. Upstate at the Mansion, Storm and Callisto continue their battle. During their confrontation, the weather is going out of control. Callisto is able to beat some sense into Storm, and Ororo dons her vest as a symbol of leadership. Wolverine reaches the Mansion via the tunnels and he meets Tom Corsi and Rogue with the healer, who is injured, but ready to help. Logan says to Rogue that he thought the tunnels were off limits to the New Mutants, to which she responds that they are. Logan says he's been picking up their scents in the tunnels, and the novice team is no match for the Marauders. He would have checked the scents out, but the healer had his priority. Suddenly, Rogue pushes Logan, the healer, and Tom behind a wall for cover as a giant energy wave engulfs the tunnels, which are now scoured clean. Logan, looking at the destruction, says that if anyone was in those tunnels when the pulse hit, they're dead.
