Summary by CharleyX:
Back in the present, Rachel deflects Amara's queries, and the Nova Romani drops the subject - for now. She points out a cruise ship she believes Ororo is on, and Rachel confirms it. The X-Men are aboard said ship, wishing farewell to Storm on her trip back to Africa. Kurt regrets that Kitty and Logan are not there (see the Kitty Pryde & Wolverine LS), and the Professor is concerned about Ororo's decision to leave. Storm concurs, but feels that without her powers, the best place for her to rebuild her life is in Africa, where she grew up. Xavier wishes he could do more, but Ororo is grateful he has been her teacher and friend. The intercom tells all going ashore to go there, and the X-Men hug Storm and leave, wishing her a safe trip, and a speedy return. Ray and Amara walk through South Street Seaport and plan to shop and then hit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Nearby at the Fulton Fish Market, Jaime Rodriguez takes a break and finds two co-workers rummaging in his locker. He pushes them away and sees the mysterious necklace still inside. He wonders how they knew it was there, and then the necklace speaks to him again, telling him it summoned them, but would prefer Jaime's soul to theirs. Jaime slams the door and vows to get rid of the necklace that night, as it's getting harder to resist its pull. At the Met, Rachel takes Amara to the Roman exhibits, which remind her of home. She asks about the Caesars, and Rachel gives her some background on the Roman Empire. Amara is pretty homesick, but at least she has a home to return to, thinks Rachel. Suddenly Rachel senses someone and runs off. Amara catches up outside and Rachel reveals she's felt Selene's presence in a passing limo. Amara knows Selene as well, and bears a similar grude - Selene killed her mother. Amara isn't happy that Rachel picked that info from her mind, but is quickly consumed with thoughts of revenge instead. Rachel and Amara trail the limo for a few blocks to an old mansion. they sneak in the back and find maid's uniforms to use as disguises. Rachel shies away from the collar, recalling her days as a hound, but changes anyway. Right after, a butler requests one of their presences upstairs, the other with him. Down in the secret catacombs, a certain Friedrich von Roehm presents his applicant for Black Queen of the Hellfire Club - Selene! Sebastian Shaw cagily replies that the title must be earned, so Selene animates the floor to imprison him. Shaw barely manages to break free, and wonders if she knew his weakness to passive attacks. He declines further demonstrations, and Selene takes her leave to secure a gift for her host. Shaw wonders if she teleported, but Tessa realizes that it was just a temporary hallucination. Shaw feels he has little choice but to accept Selene to the position. Elsewhere, Rachel is dismissed and cracks up with laughter at the thoughts of the men inside as soon as she clears the room. A shadow approaches from behind, but Rachel blocks the attack and slams Selene into the wall. Rachel goes to check her out and sees Amara instead! Selene then grabs Rachel's neck from behind having created the illusion around Amara to break Rachel's focus. She quickly takes control of Rachel's mind, making both young mutants her slaves. Shortly afterwards, sahe presents her "gifts" to Shaw. Tessa notices Rachel's resemblance to Jean, and wonders about a possible connection to the Phoenix. She prompts Shaw to take the girls and use them against Selene! Rachel wakes up with her facial scars and hound costume on, and fears that her journey to the past was an illusion. She almost gives up, but then summons the will to resist this scenario. Her costume changes as part of her mind is freed of Selene's influence. Since she doesn't want to alert Selene, and isn't sure if she's got enough control to use her body properly, she shifts herself into Amara's mind through the mindlink they established earlier. Amara's mind has recreated a Roman villa, but dedicated to Selene. Amara doesn't recognize Rachel and attacks. Rachel block with TK and grabs Amara, trying to force her to use her powers, which she does, nearly leveling the villa as the "earth" erupts around them. Finally Amara turns into Magma, and throws Rachel clear. She is severely ticked, and turns a lava blast not on Rachel, but on the statue of Selene, breaking the witch's hold on her. Rachel returns to her own head and finds Amara causing even worse tremors in the real world. Shaw charges Selene to deal with this, but Rachel telepathically calls for Xavier, then hits Selene with a psi-bolt. Selene encases both girls in rock, just as Nigthcrawler appears, grabs her and 'ports away. Amara breaks free and screams for Selene as the X-Men bust through the wall. Shaw wants to know where Selene is, and Xavier's astral form reveals that Kurt took her out with a nerve pinch. Professor X also calms down Amara, who is screaming for Selene's blood. Colossus frees Rachel, and Shaw deigns to let the girls go. Later, after many explanations, the X-Men prepare to leave, but Rachel doesn't want to go out in the maid's uniform, so she tries one of her mother's stunts and telekinetically rearranges the molecules of everyone's clothes, which wipes her out. On the way out, Rachel wonders if it was her telepathic call that got the team there so fast. Xavier says "not exactly" as Rachel sees the entire street outside torn up by Amara's quakes. Amara is shocked at the damage she caused, and more upset that Selene is still free. Rachel tries to buck her spirits nad the group goes home. Later that evening, Jaime waits for the subway and plans to melt down his necklace, when he is stabbed in the back by a thief. The mugger takes the necklace and puts it on, thrilled at his luck, but then he starts burning, and the necklace laughs evily at being set free for the first time in thousands of years!
