Carrying off from last issue, The Brotherhood and X-Men attack each other, with the Blob flinging a police officer away, and Avalanche, throwing the floor under the X-men into a sea of waves. Nightcrawler bounds across the hazardous terrain with ease, and assault Avalanche. Destiny alerts Avalanche to Nightcrawler's next move and Avalanche knocks him out. Pyro has Colossus in a grip of flame while Wolverine charges at Pyro. Storm no wanting Wolverine to kill Pyro, whisks Wolverine away in a small tornado. Angel carries Kitty around who is looking for Senator Kelly. A guard goes to escort Dr. Moira MacTaggert and Professor Xavier to safety. Although, Xavier realises to late that he can't read her thoughts and the guard uses a nerve gas that paralyzes Xavier temporarily. The Guard turns into Mystique, and Destiny comes over and says that even the immediate future is blurry due to a chronal anomaly. The chronal anomaly being Kitty, whose psyche is in 2013 in Kate Pryde's body and Kate is residing in Kitty's body. All thanks to Rachel Summers. And Kate realises that history is a lot harder to change than she realized.

2013: The escapees are evading the patrols and hunting for the HQ of the sentinels in the Baxter building. When they come across the building, Storm flies close and kills the Sentinel guard. Colossus, Wolverine, and Storm infiltrate the HQ while Rachel Summers stays with the comatose Kitty.

Washington 1980: The battle continues as Storm blows the combatants onto the street while Kate is searching for Senator Kelly. The Blob jumps out of the building and nearly lands on Colossus. The army steps in and fires a shot at Colossus, and Pyro uses his fire demons on the army, Angel, and mainly Wolverine. Storm douses the flame with a torrential downpour. Nightcrawler helps Wolverine up and is then attacked by another Nightcrawler. Wolverine figures the real Kurt can teleport and so goes to attack them both. But Storm gets Wolverine to sheath his claws to find anothr way. Wolverine relents and says that this discussion is not over yet. Storm and Wolverine get knocked off balance by avalanche, and Colossus runs over to the fallen Wolverine with a steel girder. Colossus uses Wolverine as lever and catapults Blob into the air and then knocks Blob onto Avalanche. Storm then puts more water on Pyro, while Angel gets some soldiers to safety. Nightcrawler knocks the other one down and sees Mystique in midform. Mystique flees telling Kurt to ask Margali Szardos, his 'mother' what it is all about and how she might know Kurt's name. The X-Men realise they don't know where Kitty is, and get worried.

2013: The three infiltrators arrive at the top and Wolverine attacks the Omega-class Sentinel. The Sentinel turns around and incinerates Wolverine, leaving only an Adamantium skeleton. Storm takes out the Omega and additional Alpha units arrive. Storm disables another and then get harpooned through the chest. Colossus gets emotional and knocks the Sentinel out the building. Rachel is with Kitty and feels them die. She is saddened and afraid of death, even though she has lived through it so much in others' minds.

Washington 1980: Kate sees that Destiny has Kelly cornered with a crossbow. Kate phases thorugh Destiny and solidifies her shoulder to knock Destiny's aim off course. Kate then faints and Kitty returns to her own body and time. Storm goes back into the building to get Sprite and goes off to rendez-vous with Angel's private jet. Prof. Xavier asks Kitty if she remembers anything on the ride back. Kitty doesn't and asks what was the future supposed to be like. Xavier merely informs Kitty that she will learn it all in time and that Kate Pryde was a strong and admirable woman. Angel asks if they had changed the future, and Xavier replies that "I don't know, and how cliche though it sounds, but only time will tell."
