Upstarts
The Upstarts were a group of young mutants assembled by Selene who were involved in a competition for power. Points were gained by killing other mutants, and the winner would theoretically have domination over the others, and would be the leader of the next generation of mutants. The competition was moderated by the Gamesmaster, who used the powerful thoughts of the Upstarts as a means of blocking out the thoughts of the rest of the world. After Selene was removed from the game, the Upstarts continued to compete, although they never really seemed to get anywhere, because all of their successful kills kept returning from the dead. After the failed Younghunt, where the Upstarts captured the remaining members of the Hellions and the New Mutants, the game seems to have disbanded.
