Gene Nation

The second generation of Morlocks, raised on the survivalist world of The Hill, were weeded out by Mikhail Rasputin as they tried to storm his castle. Those that succeeded became Gene Nation, the vanguard of the strike force against the humans of Earth. Under Marrow's direction, they slaughtered dozens of people in a nightclub, and then set bombs in the subway tunnels, planning to take one human life for every Morlock killed in the Mutant Massacre. Only the intervention of the X-Men (with Callisto's help) averted another massacre. Gene Nation attempted to kidnap Leech, one of their "ancestors," but were foiled by Generation X. Then they returned to the Hill, where they planned to go back to Earth with a bomb. They were stopped by Storm, who forced Mikhail to open a portal back to Earth, and send the young Morlocks through. The Gene Nationals were sent to a village in Africa, where they were to use their abilities to help the people farm and survive. Unfortunately, this plan didn't work so well, thanks to Humanity's Last Stand, who tried to slaughter the mutants. The X-Men and the Brotherhood were able to stop HLS, but not before many Gene Nationals died. The remaining Gene Nationals were left by Storm in the care of D'Gard, one of their own, as Ororo felt she could not adequately lead them due to her responsibilities to the X-Men. Some Gene Nationals were re-recruited by Dark Beast, who was partially responsible for the mutations of the original Morlocks, and is considered the "First One" by the younger mutants. The reconstituted Gene Nation was sent to capture Generation X, who were also working with Nate Grey, and whom McCoy desperately wanted to capture. The villains were again defeated, and may have been killed in the explosion that leveled McCoy's lab, though that is unlikely.
