Stryfe

Affiliation: None
Previous Affiliations: Dark Riders, Leader, Mutant Liberation Front (M.L.F.), Leader
Status: Uncertain
Relatives: Summers Family
Powers: As Cable's clone, Stryfe was the high-level telepath/telekinetic that his "brother" should have been, were it not for the techno-virus he was infected with. Stryfe was raised by Apocalypse in the future, and then was tutored by Ch'vayre and Sanctity in the use of his powers. Long a thorn in Cable's side, Stryfe liked to foment chaos by playing all sides against the others. He acquired a Zero unit, which he used to teleport through space, and then through time, to our era, where he formed the Mutant Liberation Front. Stryfe once attempted an assassination of Professor X while posing a his twin, Cable, turning X-Force into America's most wanted outlaws. He then had Sinister capture Cyclops and Jean Grey, and traded them for a canister of their offspring's (his own) genetic material. At this point Stryfe believed that he was the true son of Scott Summers, and wanted to take revenge on his parents for "dumping" him in the future. He also wanted revenge on Apocalypse, and beat him severely, which allowed him to take command of the Dark Riders for a little while. Stryfe died shortly thereafter in a temporal vortex that Cable took him through, but his mind survived in Cable's body until it was convinced to let go and accept death. The canister he had given Sinister, however, had none of his genetic material in it, and instead released the Legacy Virus, a disease which attacks the mutant gene and kills its host by burning out their powers. Stryfe had also set the bomb that killed Cable's wife Aliya, 2000 years in the future, following which he captured and brainwashed their son Tyler. Even after he died, Stryfe continued to scheme, making a deal with the demon Blackheart that would allow him to possess Warpath's body (killed by Edwin Martynec) and return to Earth. Fortunately, he could not beat Warpath and the rest of X-Force, who had shown up (with a little help from the Valkyries) to free him. Somehow, Stryfe (and his dead Dark Riders) showed up in one of Apocalypse's? bases on the moon, brought it to Earth and began to subjugate Latveria. Stryfe was opposed by Cable and Nate Grey, and at first beat them easily, even going as far as to siphon off all of Nate's power. However, in the end, Stryfe was betrayed by Madelyne Pryor, who gave Nate his power back. Stryfe was defeated by Nate. Somehow, Stryfe controlled Cable again for a short period, apparently for lack of a body - again. This Stryfe sacrificed his life to defeat Le Bete Noir, a mystical ancient evil.

A full-bodied Stryfe then reappeared controlling the activation sequence for the Prime Sentinels. He used them to hunt down Lady Deathstrike, who held the complete codes for all the Sentinels in her cybernetic systems. Deathstrike was forced to turn to the X-Men, and together they defeated Stryfe, who teleported away. Whether this power was technological or part of his own mutant abilities is unknown.
