Codename Etymology: Pronounced spĭt'bôl [From Old English spitu "expectorate" + From Old English beall "sphere"]; A chewed piece of paper used as a projectile.
Powers & History: Robert Delgado was an attorney in Denver who discovered one day that he was a mutant, with the ability to fire super-heated balls of plasma from his mouth. The power came upon him suddenly, setting his office aflame and giving him a heart attack. Paramedic Harry Palmer, who was a Broodqueen's host, arrived on the scene, and secretly infected Delgado with a Brood egg. The infection healed Delgado, but of course began the transformation of the mutant into an alien Brood.

Months later, Delgado was one of the Broodlings who defended Palmer against the X-Men in Denver. He preferred a fully human form, and had excellent control of his "spitballs." He confronted Dazzler II in a diner, but escaped the X-Men who arrived and killed his fellow Brood. Shortly thereafter, the fighting moved to the site of the Glory Day Ministry's dawn rally, where Spitball was crushed by a wall that was toppled by his own plasma blast.
