Za's Vid! While Physical Education is necessary to gain skills and tactical knowledge, the true test of a warrior is in the arena. On my homeworld, arena warriors were the heroes of millions, reknowned for their prowess in battle and skills in the martial arts.

Though it is clear that at the Xavier Institute, combat is apparently a last resort, it is still a necessity, given the various fiends who would harm us, and the mutants we must protect. Therefore, the Smackdown! Arena is our live combat exercise course. Here you will find battles (usually of the non-lethal variety) between the X-Men, their foes, their allies. There are even some battles between students at the Institute!

The rules are simple: Start a battle round by choosing your combatants or setting your ground rules in a "battle announcement." Some standard rules are tournament, battle royale (team-based free-for-all) or single combat forms. You may also specify additional rules in your battle announcement.

  • Tournaments: Combatants face off in one-on-one rounds, with the winner of each battle advancing to the next round, until only one winner is left (think the US Open or the NCAA Final Four). Choose the winners of each fight. Post starter counts the votes and advances the winners.
  • Battles Royale: Describe who from which team would defeat members of the other team(s) and why, and which team would have the last one standing. Votes to be counted by post starter.
  • Single Combat: Freestyle.

Advanced students are encouraged to cover the battles in play-by-play format. Additional credits can be earned in this manner, and are also applicable to "Social Sciences G9845x: Information Transfer Protocols for Telepaths, Empaths and Sensors."
