Codename Etymology: Pronounced slĕj [From Middle Dutch sledde "sled"].
Powers & History: Unknown, although he might be a techno-genius like Forge. His mutancy seems to have affected him physically the most, giving him a huge body and head that his limbs can't support without braces. Sledge is something of a pack rat, collecting technology and information, which he uses for bargaining chips to get others to perform services for him. He helped Blob and Mimic better control their powers after their augmentation by Onslaught, and got Risque to bring Warpath to him. In return for Warpath's returning the Vanisher from the dimension where he was trapped, Sledge provided Warpath with the location of Michael Whitecloud, the last survivor of his Apache reservation. Whitecloud was able to direct James to the murderers of his tribe, but not before an implant blew his head off. Sledge then worked with X-Force recover the Heart of Pele, a sacred jewel that the Vanisher stole, and also helped them stop Odysseus Indigo and the Damocles Foundation from resurrecting the Celestial Avatar. Ten years earlier, Sledge also stopped Indigo from activating a Celestial Golem, which would have been used to re-start the evolution of the Deviant race. Sledge seems to be a decent guy, fighting on the side of right.
