Pyro

Real Name: St. John Allerdyce
Affiliation: None
Previous Affiliations: Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (II, III), Freedom Force
Status: Deceased (Legacy Virus)
Alternate-X Versions: (AOA), (Movieverse), (Evolution)
Codename Etymology: Pronounced pī'rə [From Greek puro- "fire"]; Fire (prefix)
Powers & History: Pyro controlled fire, as his name suggests. He did not, however, generate flame, so he usually wore flamethrowers and a fuel pack as part of his costume. He could enlarge or diminish flames, and can even make detailed fire constructs which respond to his will. Pyro can also increase the intensity of his fire to the point where bullets melt before they reach him. Once, however, Pyro's powers were affected by the virus, and he actually got shot, and was taken to Our Mother of Mercy Hospital, where Dr. Cecilia Reyes was asked to treat him. Cecilia was trying to put her life back together after being "outed" as a mutant, and was encountering some resistance, but in truth, it was her force field that allowed her to perform on Pyro, whose flames were raging out of control. However, Pyro later tricked Cecilia into loosening his straps, whereupon he escaped, costing her her job. Pyro was next seen running from Cerebro and causing fires in the Mid-West, screaming for Xavier's help. The X-Men managed to subdue him, and he was apparently taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D.. Given that the Red Skull took control of the Helicarrier, how Pyro escaped is unknown. Escape he did, though, and he ended up lurking in the shadows of one of Senator Robert Kelly's campaign speeches. He watched as the Brotherhood attacked Kelly and were fought off by the X-Men, only to find that they were fighting Mastermind II's illusions. In the interim, Post had made his way to Kelly's side and was about to murder him when Pyro revealed himself. Decrying the terrorist's actions, he let loose with a giant flame blast that knocked Post away. Pyro's power increase indicated the last flaring of the Virus, however, and he died in Kelly's arms, begging the Senator to ensure that no one else had to die for misguided dreams.
