Powers & History: Pilgrimm is one of the Ru'tai, an intelligent demon race used by the N'Garai as slaves for eons. After the Ru'tai overthrew the N'Garai, Pilgrimm was chosen to explore Earth and its people, picking up where the N'Garai had left off. He was granted a name and was given the Eye of Kierrok, and it appears his physical body was evolved as well. Unlike his brethren, Pilgrimm has a more humanoid posture, three-clawed hands, and a second forearm growing from each elbow, topped with a single sharp claw. Pilgrimm is also larger than the average Ru'tai Mongrels, and possessed magical abilities when wearing the Eye of Kierrok. In physical terms, Pilgrimm is very strong, and nearly invulnerable to blade weapons and many forms of energy.

Pilgrimm's initial forays into our world consisted of capturing humans via multiple cairns he opened across the world. Inside his cynosure, which appeared to be in his home dimension, he dissected his captives methodically to discover their unique qualities, if any. When this activity reached Salem Center, it somehow caught the attention of Eany and Meany, the two metallic slugs that comprise Maggott's digestive system, causing Maggott to suspect that they were responsible for the murders occurring in town. When they were found near an unconscous and recently dissected Wolverine, the case seemed clear, but both Dr. Reyes and Logan realized something else was at work. When the X-Men discovered the restored cairn on their grounds, they were attacked and taken to Pilgrimm by the Ru'tai. Pilgrimm attempted to pierce Cecilia's forcefield, and explained his origin to her when she mistook him for a N'Garai. He was in the process of his examination when Wolverine appeared and challenged him Pilgrimm saw Logan as Mai'keth, savior of the Ru'tai and freed Beast and Marrow, but then changed his mind and attacked when he realized Logan was only human. The X-Men fought Pilgrimm until Beast realized that his power came from the Eye of Kierrok. Marrow cut the Eye from its chain and it was accidentally shattered by Cecilia, causing the cynosure to collapse and forcing the X-Men to exit through the nearest cairn. Unbeknownst to them, Pilgrimm disguised himself as a human and escaped as well, blending into humanity with all the refugees from his experiments.

Months later, Pilgrimm discovered that the N'garai had allied with Belasco and were attempting to conquer Limbo, which would allow them access to any place and time. He came to the X-Mansion's cairn just in time to fight some N'Garai who had magically taken the forms of the X-Men. Pilgrimm used only his physical strength, but was more than a match for most of the mutants. However, he sensed a kindred spirit in Jean Grey, which disturbed her greatly. When Magik II finally broke Belasco's spell and repulsed the invasion, Pilgrimm returned to his former locale.
