Codename Etymology: Pronounced ō-mĕg'ə rĕd [From Greek ōmega "large O", From Middle English rēad]; The ultimate Russian.
Powers & History: First of the Russian super-soldiers, Omega's mutant power is to release a death-spore virus that can kill across a moderate distance. He was outfitted with carbonadium (a malleable form of adamantium) coils that extrude from his forearms and are fully prehensile. His death-spore needs to be controlled by a device called the carbonadium synthesizer; the loss of that object thanks to Team X agents Creed (Sabretooth), Logan (Wolverine and North (Maverick) forced the Soviets to put Omega on ice. Due to Wolverine's part in forcing him to be put in suspended animation, Omega Red hates him passionately. He was later revived by Matsu'o Tsurayaba and the Hand, but Wolverine and Maverick were able to hide the synthesizer from him. He went to work alone as a mercenary. Apparently, Rossovich was a serial killer years ago, and was hunted down by Banshee, who was forced to shoot him. This allowed Rossovich to fake his death, freeing him up for his Super-Soldier transformation.

Recently Omega Red teamed up with Lady Deathstrike to attack Wolverine's allies and friends, among them Yukio.

After M-Day, Omega Red again found his powers out of control and tried to coerce Wolverine into revealing the location of the C-synthesizer by capturing the powerless Jubilee. He also fought Maverick (also powerless) and nearly gutted him.
