Synopsis:

"Ashes of the Soul"

(Mar. 1987, 22 pages)

Separated during Illyana's teleport, the other half of the team finds themselves in a future where mutants dominate humans. They commit acts of vandalism, theft, and defiance to aid the remaining, subordinate human population of Manhattan.

Katie Power is now an old woman, leading the resistance, upholding Xavier's dream of one harmonious human race.

They are attacked by arbs led by Roberto and Amara and are captured. Doug and Warlock merge for the second time.

In the present, Magneto has a nightmare about his parents being shot by the Nazis and wrestles with whether or not he should join the Hellfire Club.

Katie escapes, but Roberto plans to use psis to make the rest conform to his image of mutant-human relations.
