The X-Men, having battled the Marauders, return to Westchester with wounded Morlocks (Uncanny X-Men #211). Kitty and Kurt are not too well, either.

Moira sets up a field hospital, while Storm prepares the estate for attack. Dani foresees that the Morlocks and the New Mutants will die; Roberto squabbles with Magneto, then with Rahne, then with Doug; Magik is unable to heal Kitty, even in Limbo; Warlock is nervous because he senses his father nearby.

Illyana teleports with Shan to check on her family, and their apartment blows up. The New Mutants follow through the Morlock tunnels, witnessing the carnage there. They pick up Shan and Illyana, then Warlock panics, carries them all into the tunnels, and then collapses just as his father appears. Illyana teleports them away.
