Codename Etymology: Pronounced mŏn'dō [From English, Slang]; Huge.
Powers & History: Mondo can absorb any organic matter and take on its properties. He was discovered by Cordelia Frost, who brought him to the United States, hoping to use him as a bargaining chip in her application to the Hellfire Club. However, Shinobi Shaw (then the Black King) rejected Cordelia's application. Before their meeting concluded, mercenaries for the mysterious "Barrington" broke in and abducted Mondo. Shortly thereafter, Generation X (on a tip from Cordelia) rescued Mondo, and he joined the team for a while. Mondo had a very simplistic mentality, and sometimes had trouble adjusting to complex city life. He would have preferred to just sit back, pop open a coconut and enjoy the sun. Unfortunately, this Mondo was really a plant-based clone, and betrayed the team to Black Tom, who had posed as Barrington to capture and clone Mondo, using his construct to inflitrate the Massachussetts Academy. While Tom attacked the kids on the Academy's campus, the clone Mondo pursued the fleeing Jubilee, but ran right into Bastion, who destroyed him. All this was unknown to the members of Gen X until Black Tom and Juggernaut returned to attack the school with the real Mondo, who hated Cordelia for double-crossing him. He had never met any of the Gen X kids, and had been living with Tom the whole time, so he was very mean and aggressive. Gen X managed to put the villains down, but Mondo used his power to spirit them all away through the ground.
