Short Summary: For over a year, since M-Day, no new mutants have been born. Suddenly, a power surge strong enough to burn out Cerebra heralds the arrival of the first new mutant. The X-Men rush to find it, only to discover the Marauders and Purifiers have massacred the child's hometown, and each other. Cyclops sends X-Men to attack Sinister's Antarctic base and Rictor to infiltrate the Purifers, while the New X-Men attack the Purifiers themselves and are severely beaten by Lady Deathstrike and the Reavers. The X-Men discover that Cable has the baby just as the telepaths are knocked out and the O*N*E Sentinels are co-opted by nano-Sentinels and attack the Mansion. Cyclops assembles a new X-Force to find the baby at all costs. Meanwhile, a Madrox dupe and Layla were sent by Forge on a one-way trip to a possible future in which mutants are interned in camps...
