Full Name: Meggan Braddock (nee unknown)Meggan was born to a gypsy family in England, near an ancient site rumored to be filled with dark magics. Her powers were already in force, as she was born with fur, which was her body's way of dealing with the cold weather. She further responded to the apprehension of people around her by forming antennae, webbed fingers, bat-wings under her arms and furred shoulders. Believing her to be a demon, Meggan's parents hid her in their van all the time. After the reality warp caused by Sir James Jaspers, however, the teenaged Meggan was separated from her family. She was found by Captain Britain, who thought she was a villain and they battled briefly. Upon realizing the truth, Brian invited Meggan to stay with him and his sister, though he tended to avoid Meggan due to her bizzare form.
Meggan finally realized her true nature and that of her powers when she encountered the Warpie children, who were also stuck in a van. She used her empathic abilities to transform herself into the ideal woman wanted by Captain Britain, and emerged as a beautiful young adult. She and Brian soon fell in love, and Brian retired from the superhero life. Meggan at this point was still very naive, functionally illiterate and somewhat like a child in her mentality. She and Brian moved to his lighthouse off the coast, but when Brian's sister Psylocke was "killed" with the X-Men in Dallas (see Fall of the Mutants) and Phoenix III returned from Mojoworld, they became part of the new supergroup Excalibur.
Meggan's shapeshifting continued to reflect the subconscious feelings of those around her, most often with Nightcrawler, who unconsciously desired Meggan and initially felt that the alcoholic Brian didn't deserve her. Though Meggan and Kurt never acted on their feelings, seeing Meggan respond to Kurt caused some animosity between him and Brian for a time (and many months later led to Brian attacking Kurt and his subsequent trial on Otherworld). Meanwhile, Meggan also discovered that her powers were to some extent linked to England, as when the team followed Phoenix to New York during "Inferno," Meggan couldn't control her abilities and was influenced by the invading demons into becoming the Goblin Princess. She tortured her teammates for a time, but Shadowcat remained unaffected and eventually disrupted Meggan's new persona.
Much later, after the aforementioned altercation between Kurt and Brian, Meggan left Excalibur to search for her parents. Phoenix tagged along, and together they traced rumors of a magical creature in a van, not to Meggan herself, but to an old Neuri. The women freed the Neuri from his captors, and he showed Meggan her true form via the Alshra spirit plane to which they could both connect. After Meggan returned to Excalibur, Brian finally proposed marriage. Unfortunately, he also temporarily lost his powers at just that moment, thanks to the recent collapse of the Otherworld energy matrix that Excalibur had effected. Meggan was dismayed that her lover no longer had his "aura," and told Brian that her "base" form was one that she chose for him, revealing a deep insecurity that he only loved her for her looks. The two reconciled and began to plan their future, and then Brian was lost in the timestream on the way back from helping Phoenix save her original timeline ("Days of Future Past").
Meggan fell into a catatonic state due to the emotional shock and remained so for some weeks. When she finally awoke, it was to censure Phoenix for letting Brian languish in the timestream. Note: At this point Meggan was using her "true" form almost exclusively. When Phoenix switched places with Brian, returning him to our reality, Meggan and he did not reconnect immediately as he was suffering from "brain overload" from all he saw in the timestream. Eventually, though, they reconciled, though the wedding plans didn't resume immediately. Around this time, Meggan realized that her greater empathy also connected her to the elements, and she began to focus outward, shifting their forms instead of her own.
Meggan stayed by Brian's side even after he lost his powers to the Crimson Dragons, and eventually the two were wed on Otherworld. She then ventured to the Darkmoor research facility with Brian, where he was doing scientific research. When the Mastermind computer decimated the Captain Britain Corps, Meggan joined Brian (and Captain UK, Psylocke and the Black Knight) in their quest to free Roma and save Otherworld. Brian was then revealed as the true King of Otherworld and he and Meggan remained there to consolidate his rule.
