Codename Etymology: Pronounced măm'əmăcks [From Russian mammot "ancient elephant," probably from Ostyak, like Finnish maa "earth," since the bones were dug up from the ground + Latin maximus "most, largest," superlative of magnus "great, large"]; "The ultimate elephant."
Powers & History: Mammomax was a mutant who looked like a humanoid elephant. He had a complete elephant's head, an invulnerable outer hide, ivory tusks and a trunk. However, his hands were human-form, with separate digits and opposable thumbs. It is not certain if he had a tail. As a result of his mutation, Mammomax had "elephantine" strength and endurance, plus the ability to expel intense stomach acids via his mouth.

Mammomax first appeared in the incarnation of Brotherhood of Evil Mutants led by Exodus, and attacked the X-Mansion alongside Juggernaut, Sabretooth, Avalanche, Nocturne, and a very mutated Black Tom Cassidy. While attacking the mansion Mammomax was miserably defeated by Iceman. Then his mind was supposedly wiped by Mindee Cuckoo though her inexperience seems to have rendered that temporary. The whole group was sucked into Xorn's black hole and somehow all were transported into the Mojoverse, where they sold Juggernaut and Nocturne in exchange for passage home. Mammomax had no further known interactions with the Brotherhood.

After M-Day Mammomax was being pursued by members of the Sapien League, and along with Erg and Peepers, ran to the X-Mansion for protection. He was rescued from death at the front gates by the X-Men. He took up residence outside the Mansion alongside the rest of the 198. There he struck up a friendship with Erg, Fever Pitch, and Sack, and together they vocally objected to the O.N.E. keeping them prisoners in effect. When the O*N*E offered to allow some mutants to travel to Salem Center, Mammomax accepted, but balked when he discovered that a tracking implant was required to let him "off campus." Eventually he and the others accepted the trackers. While at Salem Center, Mammomax tried attacking a boy for calling him "elephant-man" but he was stopped by an electrical jolt from the chip. Later, Mr.M removed the chip and Mammomax followed M when he left the Institute. After M's death/transformation. Mammomax struck out on his own. He was somehow captured bye the Facility, those responsible for the creation of X-23, and later used as food for Predator X, a creation of the Facility. Mammomax was eaten alive and stripped to the bone.
