Codename Etymology: The name of a 1967 Beatles hit, supposedly derived from Julian Lennon's childhood painting of a classmate, but long-rumored to be a reference to LSD, D-lysergic acid diethylamide, which causes psychedelic visions. (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
Powers & History: Karolina’s parents were aliens from the planet Majesdane, and she inherited their abilities from them. Her alien heritage surrounds her body with a multi-coloured glowing energy that she can project as a force blast and is also useful for dazzling unsuspecting villains. She can fly when in her alien form, but she looks like a normal human as long as she wears the Med Alert bracelet her parents gave her when she was very young. Karolina was left behind to look after Molly when the others saw their parents murder a teenage girl, but she reluctantly left with them and joined the Runaways. She originally thought her parents weren’t as bad as the rest of the Pride due to the way they treated her, but after fighting them and discovering from the Abstract that they only agreed to have her to help the Pride, she changed her mind.

Karolina often takes the role of peacemaker on the team, calming people down and ending arguments; consequently, the worst arguments are the ones she’s involved in. During fights, she provides the best aerial support with her flight, although she has been known to apologise to the people she attacks even as she’s doing it. She had a hard time adjusting to the fact that she wasn’t human, as well as the fact that she was in love with one of her team mates, though she wouldn’t say who. She was the one who ran away from her foster home first and got everyone to meet up again, re-forming the team.

Later, Karolina spontaneously kissed Nico when they accidentally teleported outside the city and saw a shooting star. Nico was taken aback, and Karolina was visibly upset and confused, not knowing what she wanted or why she felt that way. The conversation was interrupted by Xavin, a Super Skrull who arrived on Earth to claim Karolina's hand in marriage! Xavin claimed that they had been betrothed as infants, in order to keep their homeworlds from fighting. After some altercations and discussion, Karolina informed Xavin that she liked girls, so he shapeshifted into a more attractive form. When Xavin showed Karolina that she could transmit messages to her friends from space, and promised not to pressure her until she'd seen her homeworld, she agreed to accompany him into space.

For their wedding, Xavin had a Skrull band come up with a version of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" for Karolina's marching down the aisle. However, things apparently didn’t get that far, as when the ceremony was just beginning; a Skrull insulted a Majesdanian, one of Karolina’s race, which erupted into a battle causing a planet-wide destruction of her homeworld. Karolina and Xavin managed to escape just in time and returned to Earth.

But she only returned to find her friends at each other’s throats, thanks to the new Pride’s manipulations. However, Karolina’s level-headedness and surprise return allowed them to set aside their differences to mount their own offense against this new Pride to save Molly. During the battle, Karolina displayed new uses of her powers, but was knocked out early when the Leapfrog’s lasers were turned against them. She didn’t wake up until well after the battle was over, when she received the terrible news Gert had lost her life.
