Kitty surprises Shigematsu in his office. She's dressed as a ninja, but he realizes who she is and she tells him to leave Carmen Pryde alone. That he's to return his bank to him and never bother him or his family again, or she'll be back. She phases away and out into mid-air. She sky dances through the air before she's spotted by a police helicopter. She waves and drops out of sight. The police are too confused and embarrased to report what they had seen.

Kitty drops straight down into the subway station, phasing out of her ninja costume along the way. She rides a train as she thinks about everything she's been through recently. She notices her reflection in one of the windows and thinks to herself that she doesn't recognize herself anymore, inside or out. She doesn't like her short hair, thinking that cutting it was another decision Ogun had made for her. She wishes briefly that she had never become an X-Man, that she could lead a normal life. But then she thinks about sky-dancing and how she couldn't give things like that up. She decides she's grown up and isn't "Kitty" anymore, she's Shadowcat.

Back at the Clan Yashida stronghold, Yukio tries to get Wolverine to take it easy. Carmen burst in on them and asks what they've done to Kitty. Wolverine tells him that he's called Xavier and she hasn't returned to the U.S. so she must have gone after Ogun. Carmen and Yukio argue again as he yells at them to go after Kitty. She tells him he's no man at all and it's his fault Ogun got ahold of Kitty at all. She tells Wolverine that the airstrip's plowed and the plane's ready.

Back in Tokyo, Lady Mariko gets home from work. She talks with Akiko, Mariko and Wolverine's foster daughter, about their days but then she hears a noise.

Wolverine and Carmen argue on the plane. Wolverine tells him he doesn't think much of him, that he signed with Shigematsu solely to save his own skin. Carmen tells him that he never meant to get Kitty involved in any of it. He asks why Kitty has returned to Tokyo and Logan tells him that she's going to face Ogun. If she wins Ogun will kill her and if she loses, and Ogun takes her again, Logan will kill her. Yukio asks if he plans to kill Ogun for what he's done to Kitty. Logan says yes, or Ogun will kill him.

Ogun attacks Lady Mariko as she sleeps, but the sword passes right through her throat. Ogun is surprised and Kitty phases through him and throws him. She realized he would come to attack Mariko to draw out Wolverine and punish him for interfering with his plans for Kitty. She charges him with a sword, but he shatters it. She continues right through him and the wall behind him. When he rushes into the hall she flings Mariko's robe over his head and punches him. Ogun uses a flash bomb to get away. He taunts Kitty, telling her is she refuses to serve him that Akiko will take her place. Kitty becomes angry and is surprised from behind. She manages to dodge the attack and land a kick, but Ogun disappears again. She hears screaming and phases down to where she's hiding Mariko and Akiko. Too late she realizes that Ogun tricked her and he burts through the window. He manages to hit her with a shaken (small spiked disc) as she shoves the girls out of the way. She phases them down through the floor and tells Mariko to run. She tells her not to try to hide, but to keep running, that she'll try to hold off Ogun as long as she can.

She pulls the shaken free of her leg and realizes it's coated with a drug. Ogun comes up behind her and tells her it will stop her from phasing. She tells him she won't give up and he tackles her, throwing them both through a window. They end up on the roof. Ogun continues to pummel Kitty, she tries to fight back, but she just isn't skilled enough. He beats her down and then tries to brainwash her again, but this time he fails. Kitty tells him he has no power over a Shadowcat and that she'll never surrender. He raises his sword to finish her off, but Wolverine appears suddenly behind them telling Ogun he shouldn't do that.

A note on placement - this LS takes place concurrent with Uncanny X-Men #184 through #191.
