Kitty's in Chicago visiting her father, Carmen Pryde. She's on her way to see him at work and thinking about her experiences with the X-Men in the last couple of years, her parents divorce, and her recent breakup with Peter (Colossus). She's planning on surprising her father at his bank and then going out for dinner. He's been so busy and she's been so upset that they hadn't really spent any time together during her visit. When she gets to the bank it's closed, so she phases in and overhears yelling in her father's office. She eavesdrops and overhears him being roughed up. She bursts in to the meeting. Carmen introduces her to the thugs and explains that they're "representatives" of a corporation that has bought his bank. Kitty realizes that if he's sold the family owned bank that things must be really bad. When Kitty is introduced to Ogun she's afraid of him, and compares him to Logan. Carmen explains that he has to travel to Japan to meet with the head of the corporation. He asks Kitty to return to Xavier's early. Kitty realizes that her father's in real trouble, but she doesn't want to involve the X-Men in personal family business. Kitty realizes that the men are "Yakuza", Japanese gangsters. She decides to follow her father and try to protect him. She takes a cab to O'Hare and sneaks aboard a flight to Tokyo. She remembers the name of Ogun's boss and manages to find the address of Shigematsu's company. She walks to the office. It starts raining, with no money and no where to go she decides to spend the night in Shigematsu's office building. During the night she's found by a cleaning lady. The security guard shows up and shoots at her. She dives through the window. She runs through the rain, trying to get away from the security guards. She ends up soaked and ducks into an ATM. She decides to "borrow" some money from the ATM, but the alarm goes off and she drops the money. The police chase her she ends up phasing underground to get away and lands in a sewer. She spends the night on the streets and the next day she realizes she's sick and running a fever. She calls the mansion, but Logan answers and she's too embarrassed to talk to him, so she hangs up. On her way back to Shigematsu's building she sees her face on television. The ATM had a camera, and now she's wanted for attempted robbery. She decides to give herself up as soon as she finds her dad. She hides in Shigematsu's office, and overhears her dad making a deal with the gangsters to launder money. A note on placement - this LS takes place concurrent with Uncanny X-Men #184 through #191.
