Synopsis & Review by Namor_1111a:
Synopsis: We open as a news report discusses the recent revalation that Spider-Man is in fact a human and not a mutant. We then go to reactions from differnt people from Peter's wife Gwen and her father, to Norman Osborn, to Ben and May Parker, and then we hear a follow up on the Crusher Hogan situation that the D.A is looking into charges aimed at Peter Parker stating that he ordered The Rhino to assault Crusher Hogan. Then J. Jonah Jameson reads some passages from Peter's private journal live on air.

Then later at the hospital we see a man wearing a really bad mutant mask. A nurse calls a security officer to investigate. The secruity officer takes a walk through the hospital looking for the man. He finds him in a little boy's room who had been beaten because he was wearing a Spider-Man shirt. It turns out the man in the mask was Peter Parker. The security guard and Peter have a talk, in the end when Peter, hears that Rhino is rampaging in Times Square, he finally feels motivated to do something about his current situation. Peter, as Spider-Man, confronts The Rhino downtown, however, before he's able to subdue him the crowd of New Yorkers assault him with with objects they find. Later on The Rhino is confronted by the Green Goblin who tries to convince him to join up with him and destroy what little dignity Peter Parker has left, The Rhino then tells him to meet him behind Parker's house later on in the evening.

Later on that evening, at the Parker Estate, everyone is arguing over Peter keeping such a secret from everyone. Peter then leaves, upset and depressed, Gwen follows him out to talk to him. The Rhino is meeting with the Green Goblin behind the Parker Estate, and he's brought some friends with him: Electro, Vulture, and Ox. They all then attack the Green Goblin, Rhino's revenge for ruining the best job he ever had. The Goblin puts up a good fight, however, in the end Rhino and his goonies win out. Peter's wife Gwen sees the ruckus and goes to investigate. She walks in and the Goblin warns her away! The Green Goblin is then finally unmasked to reveal he's none other then Peter Parker himself! To Be Continued...

Review: Man, where do I begin? I was thoroughly impressed with this issue, even Salvador's art was slightly better then it was in the first two issues. After reading this it makes me sad that Mark Waid dropped his upcoming Spider-Man book, left Marvel and went exclusive with DC. Ah, what could have been. Alright, I was glad to see that amoung the mutants there still is a little support for Spider-Man after everything that's happened to him. Also the ultimate/Fight Club twist at issue's end was just fantastic. It was brilliant making Peter the villian of his own demise. After years of hiding under a lie, and having to balance such great stardom he just finally mentally collapsed and ended up with a split personality. Also on Sal's art: Well it's still not the top game art, but it's decent nonetheless. I found his attention to detail to be better then what it was in the last two issues. However, people's faces do change structure and shape and don't always look the same at times. So he does drop the ball on the details here and there in this issue, but it's still better then what he did in the pervious two.
