Codename Etymology: Pronounced lôr'ə-lī [From German, origin unknown]; name of a rock in the River Rhine near Koblenz, Germany. In legend, a lovely woman sat atop it and sang while combing her long blond hair, distracting sailors so their ships foundered on the rock and they drowned.
Powers: Lorelei was a savage from the Savage Land whom Magneto transformed into a neo-mutant using his advanced technology . Her power was a voice which left any man who heard her paralyzed. However, Marvel Girl, being a woman, was unaffected and saved her teammates from Lorelei's hypnotic thrall. Cyclops then destroyed the neo-mutant machine, and Lorelei returned to her savage form without powers. She was a member of the Mutates for all of one issue. However, in the confrontation with Mutant Alpha, there is a female member of the Brotherhood who bears a resemblance to Lorelei, so it is possible that she was re-mutated, and joined the team.
