Codename Etymology: Pronounced lông-shŏt' [From Old English, lang + Old English, sceot]; An unlikely occurrence.
Powers & History: Longshot has hollow bones, three fingers on each hand and an eye flash. He is extremely agile, and has a mystical luck power that makes things work out for him. Longshot also has the ability to "read" an inanimate object's life story, called psychometry. He was created by the master geneticist Arize to be the Messiah of his world, who would stand up to the overlord Mojo and bring freedom to all of the inhabitants of his dimension, Mojoworld. Longshot was hunted down, but then escaped to our world and joined the X-Men. He remained with the team for a while, but then returned to Mojoworld, where he was locked into a never-ending set of battles with his arch-foe, Mojo. These continued until Dazzler managed to bring the X-Men to Mojoworld. The reunited teammates stormed Mojo's citadel, and Longshot killed Mojo.

Some time afterwards, Longshot appeared in X-Force's headquarters and led them on a mission to save Shatterstar, who was leading the rebellion 100 years after Longshot's era. When Shatterstar was killed, Longshot used Spiral's time-traveling and the arcane knowledge of his people to transfer Shatterstar's uemuer (spirit) into the body of comatose mutant Benjamin Russell. In another adventure, he came to Earth after battling a "Thingee" and worked with some asylum inmates to defeat it and help it continue its evolution into a fairy-like creature. The inmates released themselves from the asylum (as they were not really crazy and had voluntarily entered), and they all set off for New York.

At some point, Longshot must have returned to Mojoworld to again lead the rebellion against Mojo. As before, he was captured and imprisoned. This time, however, the reality-hopping team known as the Exiles was brought to Mojoworld, and they tried to free Longshot. He was despondent over his inability to truly defeat Mojo, but they managed to get him out of his jailhouse. The Timebroker stopped the Exiles from killing Mojo, however, so Longshot appears to have remained in Mojoworld, and perhaps fought Mojo again...and again...

Recently, Heather Hudson from the Exiles contacted Mojo and gave him access to live feeds from other realities in return for the use of Longshot against their new foe, Proteus. Mojo sent Longshot to the Exiles, but he was a blank slate and had no memory of their prior meeting, nor anything else but his name and abilities. Still, Longshot's luck power was able to create a field that disrupted Proteus's reality-warping abilities, and his metal throwing spikes did their foe damage. Longshot remained with the Exiles as they hunted Proteus across the multiverse, and after they defeated him.

After some more missions, Longshot met Dazzler when Excalibur brought a wounded Captain Britain to the Crystal Palace, but it was as if for the first time, throwing Dazzler off balance. However, after being attacked by Merlyn's assassin Rougemort, Longshot remembered more about his past with Dazzler, and after the day was won, they both returned to Earth with Excalibur.
