Codename Etymology: Pronounced loa [From Hawaiian loa "long"].
Powers & History: Loa is able to physically pass through solid matter, causing it to break down. She has tribal markings on her face, but whether these are a result of her mutation, makeup or tattoos is unknown.

Alani Ryan was born in Hawaii and became a very accomplished surfer before her powers manifested. Once her mutation was revealed, she became the target for anti-mutant violence and went to Xavier’s. Alani is a very laid-back student who does well in most subjects.

Loa kept her powers after M-Day and remained at the Mansion as a student. Hellion quickly defeated her during the student free-for-all and thus, Loa didn’t make it onto the New X-Men Squad. She remains at the Institute as a student.
