Lilandra

Full Name: Lilandra Neramani
Affiliation: Majestrix - Shi'ar Empire
Previous Affiliations: Starjammers
Relatives: Cal'Syee (Deathbird, sister), D'ken (Emperor, brother, comatose)
Alternate-X Versions: (Ultimate), (The End)
Codename Etymology: Pronounced lē'lănd'rə [From Shi'ar - meaning unknown].
Powers & History: Other than political control of a star-spanning empire? None. Lil is just your "average" Shi'ar, although it doesn't seem she has wings like her sister Deathbird.

Lilandra was Grand Admiral of the Shi'ar Fleet when she was accused of treason by her brother and sentenced to death. Around the same time, she was telepathically linked to Charles Xavier and bound to him on a deep level. Knowing of D'ken's mad quest for power, and sensing that Xavier could help, she stole a scoutship and made her way to Earth. Along the way, the telepathic link to Xavier caused him terrible nightmares, which resulted in a loss of control of his powers. When she finally arrived on Earth, Xavier gave her a telepathic crash course in English, although they were under attack from Firelord ath the time. Only moments later, Lilandra was captured by Eric the Red II and taken through a Stargate. The X-Men followed, and saved Lilandra from the Soul-Drinker and her brother. After Phoenix repaired the M'Kraan Crystal, Lilandra went back to Earth while she awaited the Shi'ar Council decision on her status, because although she was Empress by right (D'ken was now utterly mad), she had defied the Empire. She and Xavier quickly fell in love, and when the X-Men were thought to have died facing Magneto in Antarctica, and Lilandra was repatriated with full royal title, she took Xavier with her to Chandilar, the Shi'ar homeworld. Later on, however, Lilandra was ousted by her sister Deathbird. When she was on the run from Deathbird, she stayed with Corsair's Starjammers as Empress-in-absentia.

She returned to Earth only one time since, to pick up Xavier, who was dying, and bring him to the Starjammer, where the advanced medical technology could save him. When the X-Men were teleported to Chandilar by Lila Cheney, they discovered that Skrulls had taken the forms of Xavier and the Starjammers, and were trying to force Lil to give up control of the Empire. The X-Men and Deathbird stopped them, and Deathbird gave up her claim to the throne to her sister. Lilandra is now Majestrix Shi'ar, and is chiefly occupied with the problem of the Kree, whom the Shi'ar conquered in a great war. On the eve of the ceremony incorporating the Kree into the Empire, Lilandra had Xavier and some of the X-Men teleported to Hala, the Kree homeworld. There they uncovered a rebellion, but although the dissident's leader helped them defuse a sun-killer bomb, Lilandra was still forced to arrest him, and the tension between legality and morality seems to have driven a wedge between her and Xavier. However, Lilandra still loves Charles, and due to the nature of their unique bond, it is safe to say that he probably still loves her, too. Later, when the Phalanx attacked the Shi'ar, Lilandra sent Gladiator to Earth to fetch the X-Men, a move which ended up saving her entire Empire (as the mutants were able to stop the Phalanx), and further securing her place as Majestrix.

As Majestrix Shi'ar, Lilandra is possibly the most powerful person in the known galaxies, and she heads a Council of representatives from all known worlds. Recently, while Charles Xavier was in space with his Skrull students, Lilandra was pressured into declaring the Earth to be a menace to the galaxy, and authorized the blockading of Earth and its conversion into a prison planet for the galaxy's criminals. Eventually the hand of the Kree Supreme Intelligence was revealed in the plot, and Lilandra disbanded the prison, following Earth's heroes defeat of the Kree and their plan to unleash Ego, the Living Planet on the universe once more.

A few months later, Lilandra invited Charles to vacation with her, but instead of spending time with her consort, she was brainwashed by his "sister" Cassandra Nova, who had switched her mind into Charles's body. Through Lilandra, Nova caused the near-destruction of the Shi'ar fleet, and much of the Empire, before she was stopped by the X-Men. What remains of the Shi'ar and how it affected Lilandra's reign is unknown. Before leaving Earth, Lilandra attempted to kill Xavier in Mumbai, India, still thinking that he was Cassandra. She was stopped by the X-Corp members there, and then retrieved by Araki clones and returned to her Empire for treatment. Araki also annulled their "marriage."

Months later, Lilandra was nearing her release from seclusion when Araki and his Vice-Chancellor staged a coup, believing that Lilandra's weaknesses needed to be eliminated. Fortunately, the X-Men (who had come to stop Vulcan from exacting revenge on the Shi'ar) and the Starjammers helped rescue her.
