Powers & History: Lacuna has the ability to "step into" moments in time, giving her a space-time referent outside the norm. This means that Lacuna can enter a "frozen" world, where everything and everyone are static, and only she can move and act. To other people, it seems as if Lacuna appears out of nowhere, or more often, that items Lacuna moves appear or disappear. A side-effect of her mutation is that her skin has a yellow-orange mottling that looks like a stretched checkerboard pattern.

Lacuna comes from a well-off upper-middle class family, with very understanding parents, who were never shocked by anything, even their daughter's announcement that she was a mutant. This easy-goingness frustrates Lacuna immensely, and she is always looking for ways to provoke them. She has moved past the body-piercing stage by now, but still sports a lip ring and eyebrow studs.

Following the deaths of Bloke and Saint Anna, Lacuna tried out for the X-Force strike team. She was rejected by U-Go Girl, who thought their powers too similar, but Orphan seriously considered her. Lacuna took to "invisibly" moving things around X-Force, to prove her value to them, often with funny results, such as placing hats on the team members. Her most provocative move was to strip the entire team during their appearance on the Larry King show guest-hosted by U-Go Girl.

However, when the Orphan finally offered Lacuna a slot on the team, she declined, instead accepting a job as host of a cable TV program called "Lacuna and the Stars" in which she would use her powers to pop in on celebrities in private and awkward moments.

Some weeks later, Lacuna ran into X-Force and tried to get Mysterious Fan Boy to come on her show and reveal his true identity. Though thwarted by Orphan, she used her powers to infiltrate X-Statix HQ and unmask MFB, who was in fact the murderous teen Arnie. The Orphan then "recruited" Lacuna into a secret mission to correct the volatile situation she created, in which she injected Mysterious Fan Boy with a chemical that caused his already degenerating heart to stop. She then began to investigate the Orphan to determine his true motivations and allegiances. When Orphan left X-Statix and "Bad Guy" appeared, Lacuna was convinced that Bad Guy was the Orphan. This was later proven false.

Some time afterwards, Lacuna had occasion to meet with Guy regarding some dirt on Spike Freeman's shady business dealings, and confessed that she was secretly in love with him. Orphan tried to reject her gently, but she stormed out, and was shot by a sniper. Fortunately, Lacuna survived, and Guy was able to track down her source. Later, Lacuna was apparently revived by the "power of prayer," live on her television show.
