The gala will also be commemorating the anniversary of the rebellion against sapien oppressors. On August 18, 1979, Magneto battled the Sentinels in the skies over New York, and in the process, revealed the anti-mutant conspiracy shared by many of the world's leaders, including President Nixon. After the battle, the United Nations granted Magneto sovereignty over Genosha. Since then, the mutant population has grown, and is expected to overtake sapiens by 2013.
Page 2. - She Hulk is rumored to be overbilling her sapien clients, and also to be having a little affair with a certain sight-impaired lawyer
Page 3 - Hydra has claimed responsibility in the kidnapping of 11-year-old Mariko Harada. In their statement, they claim that her father, Keniuchio, is the leader of the Clan Yashida, and that the "girl's mutant blood will spill unless they forfeit their profits to the Indonesian MGH drug trade." Page 4 - This is a story about the soldiers of the Australian government and their run in with the Hulk. It gives some accounts of the fight, with the typical extreme descriptions of Hulk by some of the soldiers, and goes to paint the soldiers in a positive light, saying that they were only going after the human refugees with the best intentions, and that Hulk has allied himself with the treacherous A.I.M. (continued in Hulk #83-86)
Page 5 - British Birthday Bash: A party will be held in honor of the upcoming birthday of Lord Magneto, with many famous mutant and sapien guests attending, headed by the monarch of England, Brian Braddock, and his wife, Queen Meggan. Magneto, however, will not be attending. It is wondered about the status of the Monarch's twin sister, Princess Elisabeth Gloriana, as she has led a rather rebellious life traveling with her Lady-in-Waiting, Rachel Grey, and is rumored to have perished in Spade at the hands of baseline terrorist, Vargas. No official comment has been given from the Royal Spokesman, Peter Wisdom. Also complicating the celebration is the suspected sightings of two possible terrorists, who answer to the names Juggernaut and Noctourne. (continued in Uncanny X-Men #462-467)
Page 6 - Leaders Gather for Genosha Summit: Peace talks between Magneto and the Mole King stalled yesterday. This was the first talk between the two, also including Latverian ruler Victor Von Doom, but they stopped when the sides were unable to reach an agreement. Magneto is still optimistic about chances of peace, but the Mole King is much less positive, while Doom is just plain unhappy about the whole thing. (continued in Fantastic Four: House of M) Page 7 - 50th Anniversary of Capt. America's Moonwalk: Last night there was a celebration of the life of the retired WWII super soldier. Rogers was the first man to walk on the moon, only after the combined efforts of sapien and mutant scientists beat the former United States enemy, Russia, to the punch. Rogers was a controversial choice for the program, due to his resigning as Captain America during the Senate hearings on Mutant Activity, and later caused more controversy by speaking out against Magneto's actions. Rogers himself thanked all the men and mutants alike who gave their lives over the years fighting and working on the space program. (continued in Captain America #10)
Page 8 - Mutant Murderer is Sapien Scientist?: A string of murders in the Scottish capital by a serial killer dubbed Mutant X has grabbed the world's attention. Authorities now suspect sapien scientist Moira MacTaggart, who has spoke out many times against the rise of mutants, as the killer. The killer is said to leave the victims in a withered, almost mummified state, and it is believed to be MacTaggert's "cure" that is the cause of their conditions. (continued in Exiles #69-71)
Page 9 - Spidey's a Good Kid: An interview with Crusher Hogan, better known to wrestling fans as the Green Goblin, on his thoughts about Peter Parker/Spider-Man. (continued in Spider-Man: House of M) Page 10 - Storm Clouds Over Africa: Queen Ororo appeared on the talk show ALISON yesterday and accused Magneto of racial bias as she talked about political upheaval, and seemed to side herself with the Black Panther. Panther is suspected of harboring human terrorists, while Magneto sends weapon inspector Sabretooth to Wakanda to check up on him, with Apocalypse to possibly get involved should anything incriminating be discovered. (continued in Black Panther #7) Page 11 - Three Phases Towards Success: Dr. Sean Garrison is a successful self help guru, with five books under his wing, and was expected to become Magneto's next press secretary. However, he had his daughter's education on his mind. Laurie, who has the same pheromone powers as her father, was born after Garrison learned that he impregnated a Sapien fan who tried to keep the girl from him and had to talk her into stopping from killing herself. Sean received custody after the woman was sent to a mental institute, and Laurie now attends the prestigious New Mutant Leadership Institute. I really liked the layout of this, and how it took the opportunity to give unique previews to all of the crossovers. For some of the previews for things that are already out, such as Fantastic Four and Iron Man, didn't really offer much light into things, but other ones like the one used for the Exiles crossover really got me interested. Good to see Moira back, and does anyone else think that the "Mutant X" killer will turn out to be Proteus? Not really much art to comment on, but what was used was very nice. All the pictures used were done in a way that you would feel you would see in any kind of newspaper if this were real. Definitely like the nice touch of using a blurry picture of the Hulk, so that it would go along with the mystery of the Hulk's true appearance with all the conflicting views in the article. If you've got a spare 50 cents, pick this up!
