Wundagore MountainOrigin: In the Sixth Century, the sorceress Morgan Le Fey and her Darkholders summoned the demon Chthon, but were unable to control him and sealed him within Wundagore Mountain. The demon’s magic infused the ground itself. In the 20th century, the mountain was part of the estate owned by Gregor Russoff, the father of Jack Russell, who today is a werewolf. Russoff sold it to Herbert Edgar Wyndham (High Evolutionary) and Jonathan Drew (father of Spider-Woman I).
Native Inhabitants: None. The High Evolutionary later created his ‘New Men’ (animals evolved to humanoid form) in his citadel. They eventually became the Knights of Wundagore. Their ranks include: Sir Porga, Sir Lepard, Sir Ossilot, Sir Lyan, Sir Ram, Sir Ferret, Sir Panther, Sir Puma, Count Tagar, Sir Hogg, Lord Gator, Lady Ursula, Delphis, Mr. Steed, Lord Anon, Lord Tyger, Lord Churchill, Lady Vermin, Lord Anon /Man-Beast (former). Lady Bova is a "New Man" who is not a warrior, and who in fact was the midwife to Magda Lehnsherr. Sights to See: Since the removal of the citadel, there is currently nothing of interest on Wundagore Mountain…unless the mountain itself can be considered interesting. Historically Relevant Highlights: In the early 1930's Jonathan Drew's daughter Jessica came down with radiation poisoning due to the uranium content of the mountain, so she was put into suspended animation after being given a serum derived from spiders. She emerged years later with the powers that enabled her to become Spider-Woman. Some time before Jessica Drew's emergence, Magneto’s estranged wife Magda came to the citadel seeking shelter after fleeing from her husband. On the night of the battle between Chthon and the Knights of Wundagore, Magda gave birth to twins, Wanda and Pietro. Chthon imbued Wanda with latent potential for using magic. At some point, Mr. Sinister also journeyed to Wundagore to "assist" the High Evolutionary in his work, which ironically was derived from Essex's own notes. Years later, Quicksilver returned to Wundagore and joined up with the Knights of Wundagore, in effect becoming their leader for a short time. He led the Knights at Wundagore in battle against the Acolytes and a number of mercenary mutants who were hunting for the High Evolutionary's Isotope E, which they thought could help cure the Legacy Virus.
