Blue Area of the Moon
Origin: Millions of years ago, a race of peace-loving explorers named Skrulls arrived at the planet Hala and found two sentient races: The blue-skinned humanoid Kree and the tree-like Cotati. The Skrulls held a contest between the two races to see which one was worthy of an alliance and access to their advanced technology. The Skrulls brought representatives of the two races to Earth's moon, and challenged each to make something special to prove their worth. While the Cotati coaxed life out of the dead rock of the moon, the Kree used their skills to build a huge city, equipped with atmosphere generators that maintained breathable air. (It should be noted that the Kree lost the competition, spurring them to slaughter the Cotati and the Skrull judges and leading to the millennia-lon Kree/Skrull war).
Native Inhabitants: None. However, millions of years ago, the Celestials installed Uatu the Watcher there, shortly after carving the moon off of Earth. It is still unclear whether Uatu's home was originally in the region that became the Blue Area, and the Kree atmosphere encompassed it, or whether he moved there after the Blue Area was created. In modern times the Blue Area was for some years the home of the Inhumans after they left the Great Refuge on Earth. It is also currently the residence of the Kree Supreme Intelligence, who is incarcerated in a S.H.I.E.L.D. base.
