Real Name: Unknown

Previous Affiliations: Generation X, X-Men,
Reavers
Relatives: Bishop (great-grandson), Shard

Alternate-X Versions: Age of Apocalypse
Codename Etymology: Pronounced gāt'wā [From Old English, geat, akin to Norse gat "opening" + Old English, weg "way," akin to Old High German weg "way," Old English wegan "to move," Latin vehere "to carry," via "way"]; A thoroughfare for travel or transportation from place to place; An opening in a wall that may be covered by a gate.
Powers: An Australian aborigine, Gateway uses his bull-roarer to open a portal through space and time. He apparently also has some psionic powers, like levitation and telepathy. Gateway was first seen as the Reavers' teleporter. It should be noted that Gateway did not aid the band of cyborg of his own free will. Rather, the Reavers threatened to destroy his people's sacred ground, condemning them to walk the "dreamtime" forever. When the X-Men beat the Reavers and took over their town, Gateway became their teleporter. He always seemed to know exaclty where they wanted to go, but sometimes he sent them where they needed to go. Gateway was the one who brought Penance to Gen X, and seems to have had a mentor/student relationship with M (at least the M that was the St. Croix twins).
