Make a Mutant

Listen up, darlings, since my Cuckoos left me I've been searching for a new project and it seems I've no choice but to create my own teacher's pet - and you, lucky class, are going to help me. Now, I only want to work with a mutant of the greatest potential, so I've opened Moira MacTaggert's old gene catalogues to find the best powers. Of course, no pet of mine can be without a keen fashion sense, so I've worked up some costume design elements as well. I know some of you think you know style - yes I am looking at you, Miss Salvadore - but a serious reality check needs to be taken. I will only recruit from the best and the brightest, and this is your chance to show me what you've got, for yourself or your creation. I'm looking for a sublime combination of mutations, powers and X-Men wardrobe, darlings, and creativity is key. So follow Auntie Emma and put your best foot forward!

Now that class registration has opened, I (along with Torchy) will be selecting my Favorite Pet each month (hopefully)! If you win, you will get this certificte:

And the WINNER for May 2006 is...

Cybratruax by Kinetic_Cards!

Instructions:
  1. Make your X-Man/Woman by dragging body parts and clothes onto the models in our Test Tube - think Mr. Potato Head (opens in a new window - hit F11 to view in fullscreen mode)
  2. Creativity is key - you don't have to limit yourself to putting the parts in "traditional places." Also, try switching up the male and female parts to make things more interesting. Also, you don't have to use the male and female models in the test tube: just move the model out and make up your own body shape!
  3. Note that there is an invisible/phase power which you can't see. However the top right corner has a small black plus sign so you can locate it
  4. Clicking objects brings them to the front, so start from the skin level
  5. When you're done, press the "Prt Scr" or "Print Screen" key on your keyboard (usually located above Insert or above delete). Note: Some keyboards use the button straight, others require Shift
  6. Note: Hitting the F5 key (or the Refresh button) clears the test tube, so be careful!
  7. Use a graphics editor to save your image as a JPG so you can upload it.

If you don't have a graphics program follow these instructions:

  1. Paste (Ctrl-V) the screen print into Microsoft Photo Editor (usually located in Start -> Programs -> Microsoft Office Tools -> Microsoft Photo Editor) or into MS Paint (located in Start -> Programs -> Applications -> Paint) - not recommended
  2. Click the top dotted square button in the toolbar and then select your mutant out of the screen print by dragging a rectangle around the figure
  3. Right-click and select "Crop" (MS Paint: Select "Copy to...")
  4. Save the image to your computer as a JPG (MS Paint: as a BMP - you will have to find a way to convert it to JPG)
  5. Name the image with the name of the character and your Gallery ID!!!! (e.g., Force-Norman4321.jpg)
  6. Upload your mutant into the gallery (see below). You will need to register for the Gallery in order to upload - click here to register.
Gallery Instructions: Once in the gallery, click on "Upload file," then Browse to your image and upload it. When upload is complete, add it to the "{Life Sciences) Emma's Potential Pets" Album. Then enter a description with the Mutant Name, Creator's Name, Description of Abilities, and Keyword "MakeaMutant." You should also take time to rate the other creations in the gallery, and comment on them if you wish.

Feel free to put your own mutant pictures into the gallery. No stolen or copied mutants please - your work must be your own.

Suggestions for additional parts and clothes may be directed to my TA (that's Teacher's Assistant, Mr. Foley - shall I telepathically wash your brain out with soap?) Torchy. Click his icon to email him with your ideas.

More parts added! Girly things and black-skinned body parts!
