Cerebra's Files: Movieverse

Cyclops

Real Name: Scott Summers
Affiliation: X-Men
Status: Presumed deceased (Phoenix)
Powers & History: The movie version of Cyclops is a lot like his 616 counter-part. He shares his rigid, controlled personality, and his optic blasts. He is in love with Jean Grey and engaged to her. He is jealous of the attention Jean gives Logan.

Cyclops' optic blasts first manifested at his high school prom. X1: He was among Professor X's first recruits and is the leader of the field team, experienced in tactics, strategy and flying the X-Jet. As an instructor, Cyclops teaches auto-repair to the kids in the school and owns a motorcycle and a Mazda RX-5. Cyclops (with Storm) was the one who saved Wolverine and Rogue from Sabretooth and brought them to the Mansion. Later, when the X-Men searched for Rogue, Cyclops's visor was removed by Toad and he blew off the top of the local train station. Cyclops also fought against Logan's involvement in the X-Men's fight against Magneto, claiming that 'he'll endanger the mission.' when Xavier orders Wolverine along on the Liberty Island mission. Cyclops saved the day in X-1, as he shoots Magneto with an optic blast, enabling Wolverine to destroy Magneto's mutation machine and rescue Rogue.

X2: Cyclops soon received a more streamlined visor that did not cover his ears. A few months later, while accompanying Xavier to visit Magneto, Cyclops was subdued by Deathstrike and captured by Stryker's men at the plastic prison. He was brainwashed (using Mutant 147's fluids) into attacking Jean when she arrived with the X-Men at the Alkali Lake base. When Jean sacrificed herself to save her teammates, Scott and Logan appeared to bond a little over her loss.

X3: Shortly afterwards, Scott heard Jean's telepathic voice calling to him, and left the school to travel to Alkali Lake. Once there, the voices became louder, until he blasted the water in frustration. To Cyclops's amazement, the waters swirled around and Jean rose out of the lake. They embraced, and began to kiss, when a change came over Jean. What exactly happened is unclear, but given that Wolverine later found Cyclops's glasses floating on the shore, and Jean demonstrated the ability to vaporize entire bodies, the probability that Scott was disintegrated is very high.
