Cerebra's Files: Movieverse

Angel

Real Name: Warren Kenneth Worthington III
Affiliation: None
Relatives: Warren Worthington, Jr. (father)
Powers & History: Angel has the power of flight thanks to the large white wings protruding from his back. It is also assumed that he has some sort of hollow bone or increased muscle structure to allow those wings to carry him. He also appears to have phenomenal flight speed, as he made a cross-country trip in only shortly longer a span of time than did the X-Jet!

X1 Wizard Special: Angel was a member of the X-Men recruited between X1 and X2 and along with Colossus and Psylocke battled some Acolytes of Magneto, who were trying to recruit a young mutant. He was snared by Senyaka's whip, but flew high into the air with his attacker, who fell to Earth. Angel's leg was hurt but he rejoined his teammates. (Rendered out of continuity by X3)

X3: When Warren first discovered he was a mutant, he tried to cut his own wings off with various cutting and scraping instruments in his own bathroom! It was then that his father discovered his son was a mutant and vowed to help him, whatever the cost, resulting in the invention of the Cure. Ten years later, Warren was a shy young man, about to be cured. However at the last second, Warren lashed out and dove through the window of the lab, making a break for freedom and in turn becoming a "high flying angel."

Angel eventually came to the Xavier Institute following Professor X's funeral. He asked if the school was a safe haven for mutants, and while Beast replied that it used to be, the question appeared to galvanize Storm to action, and she vowed to keep the school open. Shortly afterwards, Warren must have discovered that Magneto and the expanded Brotherhood were attacking his father's lab at Alcatraz, and he took off or stowed away to help his dad. In the final battle, his father was thrown off a building by Quill and Arclight. Only Angel's swiftness allowed him to rescue his father in mid-air.

Angel appears to now be living a free life as a mutant, most likely with the acceptance of his father.
